And already posting such retarded shit and giving everyone a bad impression of yourself. Good job!
To put it simple, when you load http://www.crossfire.nu your computer firsts asks your DNS server "To what IP does http://www.crossfire.nu point to?" and then the DNS server answers your computer, "It points to 213.163.70.142". Then your computer connects to IP 213.163.70.142, and that is where the DNS steps out of the picture and has nothing to do with your connection to that site anymore. Note that typing 213.163.70.142 on your browser address bar doesn't actually take you to Crossfire, but to Heaven Media home page - I might explain this laters.
For example, if you were to download a file called 1gb.null from http://crossfire.nu/1gb.null (note that this file doesn't exist), you would of course type on your browser's address bar "http://www.crossfire.nu/1gb.null" and the download would start.
What happens "behind the scenes" there is your computer firsts asks the DNS about the address of crossfire.nu, and the DNS responds with 213.163.70.142. Then your computer connects to 213.163.70.142 and asks for the file 1gb.null. Then the download starts, and the DNS has nothing to do with the download itself.
Note that directly going to 213.163.70.142 won't take you to Crossfire, but to Heaven Media homepage. This is because Crossfire is hosted by Heaven Media, and the 213.163.70.142 address is actually that of the Heaven Media router. Upon receiving a connection the router also kinda like gets information from where the connection was directed there, and if it was directed there from the domain crossfire.nu it routes the traffic to the server hosting this website - if the connection came from a "non-specified" domain (or directly via the IP) it connects to the main Heaven Media page.
(Note: everything in this comment has been simplified, it's not really this simple, but explaining everything in full detail would not only exceed my personal knoweledge but also take quite a bit of space)
:D
It still has no influence on your downloadspeed in any way.
If you would just quickly read up on what 'DNS' is you could see how you cant speed up your internet by using an alternative dns server though
Ïnstall it restart ur PC and www.speedtest.net
doesnt mean jack shit for ur dload.. xD
It just gives you a domain which will redirect to your ip.
Besides that, did u ever actually check the actual download on ur pc?
I get over 10 MB/s on torrents so I know for sure my dload is +80 Mbit.
Speedtest can get it wrong too.. it can send packets to ur DNS but that doesnt mean that is your dloadspeed.. it could be just the DNS' server speed.
Which sounds way more logically to me then boosting ur bandwith by using a DNS.
second: u don't need a account to use openDNS, with an account you just get a few extra options (block sites etc)
What do you think about my internet speed?
