If the ip is only given by the admin to the players then it's unlikely that they'll be able to trace the IP of the server

However, with SL, it's possible at any given moment.

there were some great tips on the boards how to make it harder for the attacker, but in general I dont see sl or any other monitoring tool having any noteworthy impact on the bother.

my statement wasn't meant as some general philosophy of life, just a realistic view on this certain matter.
there is no way that splatterladder is gonna change anything. they are proud of being able to monitor more than just the master list like ase/hlsw, they are pissed off by the "arrogant behaviour" of those "competitive players" and they couldn't care less about our problems. we gotta find another solution, not sticking to some futile hope that splatterladder admins would all of a sudden listen and act. this won't happen.

Splatterladder will be shut down at the end of this year anyway (or earlier). There's a new project running which would "improve" the current Splatterladder.

The new project is called TrackBase. Same tracking shit as SL, but improved or whatever.

yep, but as far as I know, SL admins are tired of doing this shit or smthing and SL is failing quiet hard, so they decided to shut it down. Not alot of people know this, but a friend of me used to be SL admin till last week, so I know what's going around. He started this new project called "TrackBase"
