These days tho? Multiplayer games are the only games I would consider being purchase worthy. Take a game like SC2. Awesome and long single player campaign, and the most played RTS multiplayer. Then look at Mafia2, 10h for the linear boring single player with no MP.
When will they learn? They need to start selling games online more. Avoiding all the costs when it comes to printing dvds, manuals, boxes, shipping and retailing, while paying for a server host is miniscule compared to that. Sell the game for half the price, while retaining the same profit per copy sold, and sell a lot more.
They had a collectiors edition fallout 3 which looked like this:
I think that every game that costs 60 eur should include a pack like this. Hardcore fans would buy the retail version, the rest would buy online.
~57€
standard-version.

~26€
(p&p not included though)
it truly is annoying how expensive the local retail market is over here, thus always ordering from UK vendors (just take a look at amazon.co.uk prices - ridiculous if compared to amazon.at/whatever pricing).
by the way: amazon.co.uk is now delivering for free to several EU countries, they offer new vegas for 26 pounds
€: just checked, no free shipping to SLO unfortunately
i demand further information regards you being awesome! (]§;~D
I'm massively annoyed by the (lack of) single player content too, I'm just astounded that everybody gets away with roughly 5 to 10 hours of actual gameplay (Splinter Cell, Mafia II, Call Of Duty, Medal Of Honour, etc.). Most they're giving you is a bland, add-on like multiplayer with a shitload of shallow achievements which will keep you "entertained" long enough until the next installment is out.
Unfortunately buying stuff online isn't necessarily cheaper. Steam cranked up its prices after the dollar to euro conversion and buying SC2 online is almost more expensive than the regular retail version. Personally I haven't bothered much with boxed versions after they replaced the elaborate, book-sized and goody-filled cardboard boxes with the bland DVD crystal cases.
im not gonna race with you in new vegas :P also, im not gonna start it anytime soon, dragon age is like 50+ hours
nonetheless, i'm going to wait for the goty edition, cba to waste money on a game having "DLCs" cut out.
