Monitor colour calibration

I'm doing some graphic design and I'd like my LCD monitor to produce accurate colours. Is there any professional (doesn't have to be free) that works well? I tried a few basic free ones and they aren't that good.

Does that even work? :P I remember that my dad used to have some plastic card with a few colors on, had to put it on the monitor and make them match the colors on the screen ^^

Anyway, did you also check your nvidia settings? Maybe they're not on default and thats why these free ones didnt work?
Yea everything was on default, but everything looked wrong. Black wasn't black and white wasn't white. I need those plastic cards!

Note that the default value for digital vibrance is 50%, used to be 0% in old drivers, but 0% is actually -50 now, that will make almost everything look greyish ;x

There are external tools to put on your display which measure it properly and help you set it up.
Not really much you can do on lcd imo
you'll need a device to standardize your monitor.

costs for that can be 100€ but also much much more.

graphic designers in the print industry (usually) need to do this every week (some do it every day) so that the colors on the monitor are very close to the ones on the printed sheet.
