win7, etkey + ET

a friend has some problems:

he says that his "ET key has gone", reinstalling ET doesnt help to solve the whole prob.

here is what happens:

"well i get the loading menu, its fine.. then when the menu where u see ur class it turns gray and i cant do anything but alt,ctrl,del " (XD)

ok, i try to translate:

he can join a server, but everything goes crazy and all thats left is a grey screen not reacting anymore.

his graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series using win7.

any help would be cool.

I had the same when starting with SLAC, had to clear "command line options" (not sure why I had +set fs_game etpro there), after that the grey screen went away.

Though my ET didn't start at all, what are you talking about?

EDIT: Haven't got ET working with my hd4870, gotta use integrated gfx, no fucking idea why. Doesn't bother, just have to boot everytime I want to play...

Hm but he doesn`t use SLAC afaik. dunno, told him to update all graphic drivers, but no idea what could cause this problem neither how to solve it. but thx for a lil hint!

Read the update. Haven't got any advice than that, for me it gives "event 6008" (if I remember correctly), nothing has helped me so far :(

ah ok, sounds like shit :/ u using win7? heard many times that win7 + ET causes muchos problemos. anyways, i will let you know if he solves the problem.

Well, normally I go w7, integrated gfx can't handle 3 displays. When playing ET I have to boot to xp... Because of the integrated gfx and the problems with "real" one. 125fps still, but it is still so annoying to boot PC everytime I feel like playing.
