So Yesterday it finally came : ) my new mouse. After 2 and a half years rough gaming with my old copperhead it finally broke the contract with me so I had to buy a new mouse. I decided to try something new. I allready used Logitech and Razer so i decided to give steelseries a chance.
I't wasn't a mistake. I've allways loved to tweak and try new options with my gaming gear and steelseries is the mouse that offers me many possibilities. First when I opened a box I was surprised to see that there was no cd that could install something like many mice have. Well I just plugged Xai with gold plated usb and my pc immediately configured it or smth like that and it was ready to rumble. But what I wanted to do was to tweak some settings. I downloaded the modifier from steelseries web page and I started to test all innovations that was under my control. ExactAim, ExactSens, Exact, ExactRate and Freemove. First I wanted to test ExactAim coz that makes the mouse more precise when aiming. Well that didn't really help. It just made it harder coz it didnt felt like I was controlling it so I decided to put value to 0 so it was off and i recommend it to everybody else that use it. After that I checked out Exactsense and it gave me immediately the sense I had been using for the last 2 years (actually it was allready there so I didn't have to calculate it anyway). ExactRate was the next thing i tried. Value there was 550 when i first tested it and it was fine for me (exactrate makes makes it more responsible when pressing buttons and moving the mouse.) I'm not really sure about Freemove yet so im going to test it and see what it does : )
Xai has a little lcd display under the mouse. u can customize any settings or choosing from 1 to 5 profiles and stuff like that. very handy!
After all im very pleased with Xai and i would recommend it to anyone wheter it's mmorpg or fps etc. going to test freemove now : )
see u !

just bought my first mx518, and it rox :)
Good job getting taken in by the maketing bullshit. You don't even understand what those 'ExactAim', 'ExactSens' etc. mean. And the truth is that they are nothing more than marketing terms, that some smart ppl in ss came up with so that they could rip of kids that don't have a clue what they actually get. All those 'exact' gimmicks are an additional software layer on top of raw hardware mouse movement. And the gold plated usb port is just fucking ridiculous.
That being said, you could have chosen much worse and xai is not that bad, altough it has it's issues (like inconsistent positive acceleration). Were I you, I'd uninstall all the drivers that come with this overpriced crap asap.
And the driver isnt the driver as it's for logitech/razer, it's basically just any utility to set up those Exact* stuff without any mousefiltering background process.
you can set every setting via lcd display tho without any driver btw
But yeah, positive acceleration killed the mouse :(
Stats for Xai:
And for Ikari:
accel is hardware and already contained in raw data coming from the mouse
most noticiable on 30-40cm/360 or so, dont remember
its' also quite slight, like 5-10% so it's not that significant for most ppl
i'd say top 3 is deathadder, zowie ec1/ec2, microsoft wmo/imo/ime
Well, perhaps you're right.
Most people testing different mouses are trying to find a holy grail for a good aim and they completely forget about the basics. Says enough that you have a program called "mouse movement recorder" + same goes for this journal, complete money and time wasting :D
E: Good mousepad is 200 times more important than mouse
