yae down

I don't know whether anybody noticed but yae is down and probably won't come back : (

Crossfire refused to cooperate with accounts and stuff, well maybe not directly but also because of cf stats I guess, but anyway, it affects yae as well.

OK, I know that not much of you care ;)

By the way, I really liked the fact that it was helping some part of the community for some period of time and thanks to all who was using it, thanks to them I enjoyed the fact that I made yae :P Well, maybe it wasn't anything big , but still, thanks for the usage!

well making it online wouldn't even be that hard, but I can't allow users to register now, I would have to remade it to allow them to register without validation with cf, but that could be a bit risky, as it would be easier to spoof data and stuff...

Pretty much what yawn did, with higher polling rate (i.e. more frequent updates), so the data was almost live, and with support for slac and stuff like that

because of the domain and the lack of official support I recon ;)
Easier to remember a brand/site if it is main news and has a easy to remember name which it shares with it's domain.

Well, the domain wasn't a problem, I was in fact thinking of getting one, but as for news I always feared of getting spammed with 'journal worthy' messages and kept to writing journals ;) yae wasn't good enough to advertise on a main site and stuff ^^

its a shame that crossfire is not willing to cooperate :<
is there a way we can change their mind? its not really hurting the community, apart from the fact that people want to see their names on that top spammers list. Not that spammers will stop spamming now cf stats is down

Well, I must say it's more about lack of good will than bad will or something ;) they probably will sooner made something on their own than support something as small as yae :P

As for cfstats, it was my mistake, they claimed to see a lag spikes every now and then (2o minutes if I recall correctly) because of that. It seems impossible to me since it was refreshing it slower than a typical user (the only thing was that is was up 24 a day, but that isn't that much of a problem), but still, if it was in some way bad for cf, it was their right to block it ;)

Yae was meant as a crossfire add-on, to be integrated with it and stuff, Tosspot agreed, but cf never got enough time to finalize plan, so I made it on my own in the meantime.

As a result, it was meant as a temporary solution, so it was using crossfire to validate user accounts and to allow user to add a server to yae updater queue.

Cfstats came, they've banned my server from cf. Registering on yae doesn't work anymore.

well, it can, but without servers being added every now and then, it will die sooner or later, you know...

Maybe just disable the registration part and let people request you to add servers for them etc.

Well, after all that would be possible, but I don't know whether people would actually waste their time at requesting and waiting for being added? ;)

Without added servers, yae would be slowly getting more useless everyday its database wouldn't get updated ;)
