PS3:Incompatible data

Sup crossies, need help with something.

I'm trying to put some movies onto my ps3, but I can't play 3 out of 4 movies.

I'm getting some error like incompatible data blabla.

The thing is, all 4 movies have the same extension (.avi), but only the 4th works.

can someone help me please? All I can see on my ps3 is that the 4th movie has a videocode (MPEG-4 thing), the other 3 don't have it.

thanks in advance

Use PS3 media server to stream it from your pc.
how?

I'm not good with this shit
Parent
It's not that difficult tbh just select your folder with the files you want to see and it will play almost anything as long as you are not using wireless.

I am using wireless

:PPPPP

Try to hook it up with a cable to your router if you can.

when you want to stream movies from ur pc, do you need to turn on the power of your pc too?
Parent
You need to access your hard drive so yes.

Both windows, which one to download? :P

sorry for harassing you :P
Parent
found it, but a bit laggy though :P
Parent
Like I said try not to use wireless because it will lag.
Parent
google

but the best way is just to have a usb hdd with movies on, just pop the hdd into ps3 and enjoy
Parent
That's what I did, they are on usb, but apparantly the 3 vids don't have a videocodec

can't play them
Parent
Hm weird :x when did u get your ps3?
Parent
HM ok.. well i dunno google about it!

CROSSIES
I guess it's about the codec for example x264 or XViD
ye but I'm scared that if I convert it, I'd lose the quality

isn't there any way to change the codec somehow? :p

Go into the "#TRANSCODE" folder. Should work that way.

I use this: http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/

It's better than the standard media server stuff.
TVersity is still giving me problems with x264, does this one work flawlessly?
Parent
I've never had problems with it. I used the standard Windows Media server streaming but when I upgraded to Win7, it stopped working like it should so I found this one.

Works for both wireless and cable.

I watch a lot of .mkv files on my PS3 (mainly x264).
Parent
Works MUCH better than tversity.
Parent
PMS is the best mediaserver hands down.
Parent
go into wat?
Parent
When you browse through your PC directory on your PS3 then you'll see folders (inside each folder) called #TRANSCODE. They're "recoded" version of the files you're trying to play.
