Thinking of getting a bar job in a club over summer.
Has anyone had a bar job at all, if so was it in an actual bar, or a club, how did you find it?
If not, feel free to post your current job status. I'm currently employed in retail.
That is all.

Though you should go to chersonisoss, the place is crowded by english man!
You have to deal daily with drunken retards and always have to be nice to everyone. Stop smiling and stop concentrating is a no go. After every day your feet and neck will hurt like hell, because you have to stand like 7-8 hours on one position without any breaks, where you can sit. If you are unlucky and a nonsmoker then you might have to breath all night long smoke. It is a really hard job where you always have to concentrate (for example when you are serving the drinks ). Most important is that you have to talk, talk and talk...with EVERYONE. eventho you dont like to - You have to talk, because a guest comes to a bar, to TALK with someone ;) After closing time you will get a headache, because of the loud music.
Well it has also its positive sides...
Sometimes you met knew nice people or you can listen to nice music. It is also cool that you get the drinks and meals for free ...
Money should be about 5-7 eu per hour (sometimes + tip). Well since im working in our own bar, i dont get any money except my tip.... lol :p
it is illegal
to smoke inside any (public) building
not many outdoor bars in the uk ;D
Talking with people makes the job bearable imo, but if you're working late and the music is loud OR the person you're serving is an asshole, then you can't talk with the customer and them shift seems to last 10x longer.
i love talking with unknown ppl, always try to find a job where i can chitchat with customers as much as i want
i just listed all the negative points...i tried to prevent him to think that this job is only about drinking, making party and meeting hot girls
In Canada/USA there are no bar/clubs/pubs that allow you to smoke inside.
So that's a good thing :D
I do agree with you on the "Stop smiling and stop concentrating is a no go" part.
I've been working at BOSS nightclub in BC, Canada for the past 2 years, and there are days where you just don't feel it that night and you don't want to talk. But you have to keep it up.
I did that for 3 hours straight, and I got pulled aside. LOL
But there are many advantages from the job.
Meet a lot of different types of people.
Meet beautiful girls, and the tips are very nice :DDD
im working in a pub / cocktailbar in our small city ....70% of my guests are over 30 years
lol 30 year old women, in there prime. lol but i cant see EU older women being good looking.
you might enjoy it or you might hate it theres only one way to find out :D
any specific questions go ahead, mightybro is right im the best gay barman
How do you NOT DECLARE your income?
The government knows everything about how much you make. what job you are working at.
are you retarded? you know the paperwork you fill out before you start your first shift? The paper that you put your SIN number on?
lol thats how they trace your pension and everything work/money related.
no wonder you dont know. your german..
No wonder you don't know. You're North American. Your statement about >30 year old EU women made it clear that you're oblivious.
years of opened eyes.
Been to Europe many times. School, work, vacation.
Seen a few, but not many.
That's what it's called. "Under The Table"(cash)
But usually that's not like a bar/pub/club job.
that's usually only for tiny pvt business's.
I myself have worked for half a summer at a disko, it's really fun the things with neck/feet problems ain't that big of a deal.
Drink with the costumers, flirt with the ladies chill out and feel like you're part of the crew.
Í was wasted almost the whole time, and it really gave me some awesome memories.
Working at a pub is pretty booring unless you have the same hobbies as the costumers.
play with saiko all summer and go to lans with us all summer!
Also i went to see a girl doing a ski season earlier this year and shes working in a bar. Also the hours are quite long but again she sais its fun, lively atmosphere. She said it was better than when she worked in an office for 8 hours. + you meet alot of people working in a bar who are pretty cool.
But i dont know anyone who works in a club, but from constantly going to clubs the barman is always working hard , constantly serving people and never stopping and i imagine that would get tiering.
Bar job is just easy to get. The money isnt that bad but its not great.
I would hate to work full time in a bar, that would be epicly tiering but part time could be good.
Wasn't my thing so I hated it but we cheated our asses off with the tips so the pay was pretty fine. You really have to be an outgoing person for it which I am not really so it sucked for me.
I usually had a one week shift with 16 hours a day and one week off. With the tips from the week I paid for food and parties during the week off. I liked!
But as said above it's nackering, your feet will kill & you'll stink by the end of the night. Plus feeling tired & being a little slow or inadvertedly mixing up who's next can lead people to reacting lile you've just killed their cat 'n fed it to their nan...
Go for it.
I was lucky. I found very kind Ravintolapäälikkö. She said that they will teach me beeing a bartender. The learning curve was fast and a lot. I had to learn stuff very fast and training was very harsh. But after all it was worth it.
Usually when people start at bar or nightclub they are 1 or 2 years a plokkarit.
They pay good :)
