any1 playing piano?

Hello.. does anyone here on crossfire play piano?

I want to learn musical instrument and i found piano nice (drum would be way better but its too loud + i dont have the space.. would start with an e-piano.. guitar is sooo standart :D). Is it hard to learn it by yourself (or with youtube vids) ? Would an e-piano be fine for learning ? How long did it take you to learn playing piano ?

thx bb

TunisiameNtal does!
did a few years ago, first steps are pretty easy after that it gets hard :S
perfo or kevin (?)
had to learn it at the age of four and kept playing until i got my first computer.
I've played piano for like 8/9 years l0l. You can learn it by watching youtube vids, but I think you'd be bored pretty fast. The first steps are usefull to learn. Once you've been owning these, you (might) play by sound. Atleast that's what I did last years. Just by watching youtube videos / tutorials I could play the song.
And ofcourse, girlz love guys playing romance dude :)

GL
did u start with an e-piano? how long did it take u to play by sound?
Parent
When I started, I had a teacher who came to my place once a week to learn the basics. Played on an epic piano we have @ home and I did a few concerts. Had lessons for like 8 years and then I didn't find the time to play serious anymore. So I once play in a while and just learn myself playing a song by watching youtube vids or listen to several songs. Most of the times when I hear a song and I want to learn it on the piano I automaticly search it on youtube, since it's a bit easier then :p
Parent
hmm i wouldnt rly want to pay a teacher or smth.. just learn it by myself (youtube vids) with like 2-4 hours a day.. with some yamaha e-piano with dynamic keys :P

but nice work there :o
Parent
Yeah, you can just browse youtube man, there are thousands of youtube videos where people put tutorials on how to play etc. gl dude :p
Parent
well the basics of piano playing - either teacher or a book. songs are the ones you learn from youtube when you are good enuf :o)

(i play piano)
Parent
Gimme a few weeks/months and I'll be your man :D I can play pretty well, but not that good :~D
I do can play this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtqjP3-x3kI&feature=channel

Next to that, bit of pop songs etc. I play all kinds of stuff :P
Parent
:O kinda impressive! i have to admit that this boy is just amazing at the age of 13:P
But ye, i did some pop songs too when i played keyboard:P taught myself pianosongs like those from amelie!
Parent
that kid is fucking sick :D I did such a fucking long time learning this shit. It's hard, but as you can see it's impressive. I agree :~> Girls love it :~>
Parent
years, from mozart sonate to chopin ballade :D
Parent
haha ye xD but if you play regularly, it's ok to learn it a bit faster :P
Parent
perfo does
i did, and no its pretty easy actually. Well i learned myself this song in a couple of days: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgYnRh8ACGQ
oh ye and kevin does still! he has his own youtube movies!
did u start with an e-piano? is it hard to switch from an e-piano to a real piano later ? (starting with an 88key e-piano and dynamic keys)
Parent
well, i started with a keyboard. But that's quite different from an e-piano. I would say that an e-piano is just fine. For me it was kinda hard in the beginning when i switched from keyboard to piano songs because you dont use your left hand that much in the keyboardsongs in comparison with the pianosongs. But that's only difficult when you're starting at the keyboard. As i said, i think the e-piano is just fine, the hardest thing (for me) was the left-hand issue.

I hope u know what i mean with the left-hand issue.
Parent
oh i meant keyboard..
smth like this:

e-piano is smth different.. so ye i would start with a keyboard too :S
Parent
perfo eh
Germany bio even studies piano!
If you can do that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMZRyPeDNeM Imma respect you! :)
playing fast isnt difficult, nor is playing with your eyes closed

not saying that what he plays is easy but its not as hard as it looks
Parent
Well, could you upload a video for me where you do the Super Mario Bros. song by heart? :)
Parent
perfo & me do

no ideas on how you should learn it though, I learned it the hard way ( angry / stricts teachers that expect you to play 24/7)

edit : http://www.youtube.com/user/freestyleri?feature=mhsn

none of those songs are really difficult btw, most are actually quite easy, but we uploaded them to test quality and all that stuff, but we never got around to uploading serious videos ( yet )
ik heb al een keer eerder gereageerd op je comment, maar dat nummer van twilight doe je echt goed man:P
Parent
hmm i would start with an keyboard + no idea of reading songs or notes :S

and ofc without a teacher.
Parent
klinkt goe, gwn spijtig da ge alleen commerciele nummers hebt geupload - zeker als ge zo'n vleugel hebt :D
Parent
ja maar het waren gewoon "tussendoortjes" dak geupload had, dingen dat ik rap kon leren ( met fouten erin meestal ) om ze te uploaden en om te zien hoe goed de kwaliteit was

alleen dat van metallica was een meer serieus liedje

(tnx btw ^^)
Parent
played it for 13 years, got all the grades and stopped until i finish my A levels, then i might do the diploma if i cba.
Piano diploma...
Parent
If you reached such a high level it must mean that piano is a real passion for you, so why did you stopped?
Parent
cos i need to get my A levels Biology Chemistry (both A or B), and a pass in all Intermediates Philosophy, Religion, Maltese & Systems of Knowledge (need to get an A or B in one of these as well).

and to get grade 8 piano (the hardest/final grade before the diploma) i had to study/play for 1-3 hours everyday and it was taking a lot of my time cos of school.
Parent
Hmm yea, I understand.. But you still play it now and then?
Parent
well in summer i did play some random mozart sonatas for the lulz, but since then i havent touched the piano, but it won't be that hard to comeback after a few weeks.

Class is permanent, form is temporary.
Parent
True, true..
My sister did some few years back (7-8) but quit after 1 year.. Guess she was too retarded to learn it correctly.
Parent
I did/do, but i've had a massive skilldrop the last few years
if u got any sense of reading notes you could learn it by yourself!
Germany Bio he studys music and gives piano lessons if ur nice to his little friend :P
since it's basically "just" pressing the right button(s) at the right time, it's fine to learn it by yourself. at least in the beginning.

only if you are able to read notes ofc.
i play hon
i play guitar
i play with my chin <3
im studying the piano for 13 years. an e-piano should be enough for doing it as a hobby but if u want to learn it seriously, u should take lessons in a real musicschool. this youtube shit sucks and wont hlep u to increas ur technical skills.

gl mate
I've played it 21 years now. Learning the basics is kinda easy but it gets harder all the time when u advance. Also it's good to know some music theory if u are going to read notes and stuff
Take lessons, u won't become good on the instrument with youtube alone, even if u'd be talented. & Learn to read notes/chords if u don't know already.
used to play the trompet :)
