pay to play an ET tourny?

So i was thinking would you pay to play a tournament in ET? with the money put in going to the prize purse to pay the top 3,4,5? . This would obviously work better for an opencup level as far more teams would be interested. unless people paid more to compensate for less teams.

Hypotheticaly if 200 teams entered the tournament which was around the number that entered the last OC the prize purse would then be £2000.

£1100 for first
£600 for second
£300 for third

something along those lines, obviously amounts and teams would far differ.

£10 a team to enter the tournament / 5 = £2 each.

Would you pay £2 each for an OC level tournament? or would you want to pay more?, pay less? or be outraged at the idea of paying?
Would you want to do this at EC level, again would you pay more? pay less? or be outraged at the idea of paying?
It just got me thinking since many tournaments in all aspects you pay a small fee to enter them which are very popular. Would there be a demand to do this online?

yes i pay ppl to play
outrageous!
the idea itself is fine and was already done with those 3v3 cups

but you can not expect the same numbers of teams enter for a cup with entry fee

only the top ~ 20 are interested since the best 10 have a chance of winning back the money and the others want to increase their reputation by playing or maybe a few want to support the competition

I've thought about hosting something alike once aswell but as I can not do it on long term and regularly I figured it'd be a waste of time =)
LETS MIX PLAYERS!

i would pay more likely 50€ for a good working, recoded ET than for black ops shit or smth.
Of course, gambling is fun. Weak teams probably wouldn't play such a tournament.

Trying to arrange this publically would be fun, just for a couple tens of euros maybe: just announce a tournament with a € buy-in, open for any team to enter - there wouldn't be many teams but the lineups would be phenomenal haha
then oc premier teams > ec teams :)
EC is completely dominated by a few teams. OC isnt 'completely' dominated by the same few teams year after year.

lower teams in EC pay to play there just giving their money to one of 3 teams :>.

why? i mean from those 200 teams, 10, maybe 15 would make a chance winning it? so why would the other 180 teams even pay for a prisepurse they wont be able to win anyway.
same idea for lan
Parent
NO WAY?? IS IT?!
Parent
yea those have an extra fun + social factor to LAN
Parent
LAN with 200 teams? fucktard
Parent
I meant the last part you idiot, where there just a few teams who has real chance to win. fucktard

That idea might work out in the Oc prem (if its without Poland teams) because the chance for everyone to win there is way higher than in EC where we have 2 or 3 teams which are dominating the scene.
Those who want to pay for the tournament can do that, but if a team that didn't pay wins, they won't get the prize :PP
let the team pay entry fee, recieve all the money, stay offline, insta profit.
no,hummel will rob the money
No way I would pay, haven't got a change to win it :D

Maybe a cf-lottery instead?
is it allowed by the law ?
What law? My law? Yes. Your law? You should know better

offering people to pay money for something at their own will? thats what every business in the world does

Is it legal

:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

whats so funny ? it was a serious question...since many here arnt 18 years old yet and since i no lawyer, i dont know the laws 100%. it was a simple question and i would appreciate it if you answered it without all those smileys

i suppose you couldnt put money on a computer without a debit/credit card to upload the funds to anywhere.

so i guess the entry requirements would be a debit/credit card and a paypal acount.

i would appreciate it if you answered it without all those smileys

made me laugh :D

you can spend pocket money on anything you want if under 18
if you use money e.g. from your birthday, parents gta agree (at least in ger)

i think its a pretty good idea, if the entry price is 2 euro's per person i think you will be suprised how many teams will sign up, i mean cmon 2 euro's -.- i can find that right now under my bed or something, under tv.
I don't see the point in this knowing that only 3 teams or so really have a shot at winning it whereas the rest just pays for those teams??

Why do you need money as motivation to actually get people to play ET? I play ET because I like the game, so do these so called EC skillers only play for prizes?
Why do you need money as motivation to actually get people to play ET?

because all other games is hyped @ multiplayer(mean cs,css,cod4,starcraft,etc) because you can win shitloads of money with them
so why et should be different?
Arctic esports tried something similar with 7000e prizepool for et but signups were low, maybe 20 for pro league and something similar for amateur league so it wasnt really a success. No idea what the prizepool was in the end though and they never hosted it again (atleast not for ET)

tells something that ppl aint ready to pay fees like that themselves eventhough it was only small amount of money for fun tournament
well, 200 teams participated but how about divisions? it would mean weaker divisions won't get any chance to earn money although they paid for it...

Sounds nice but doesn't make sense as you said it
