ET sound issues

Once again i'm left dumbfounded by a problem. Simply when I prime a grenade after the first tick sounds get distorted: sounds get quieter and appear to lack bass. This happens even when I'm speccing other people and they do the same. Any ideas folks! ;>

SOLVED:
switching s_prestep 0.02 --> s_prestep 0.05 (default) did the trick!

First your r_mode, then your sound..
You're fucked and doomed. ":D"

Ain't your headset fucked? The input or anything? Is it bugging as well with the normal computer sound?
I blame windows 7.

EDIT:
Normal computer sound is fine, all other sounds are fine. Gonna try random sound settings to see if it helps... ugh

being useful!
Something in ur cfg is my bet, I've got a similar issue. I hear the first click and the next clicks are far more quiet.

I've played with the same config for years and gotten quite used to it. My previous cfg didn't have this problem.
are all game sounds quiet though during this period? it's not just the clicks for me
Parent
err try default config, if it still happens: driver settings!
Yep seems to be a config related issue, weird guess this new PC has some issues with my sound settings saved...
Parent
have you got on board sound now or a real card?

i've heard of getting rid of the nade ticks but not reducing all game sounds :!
Parent
on-board, when the grenade was passed the first tick all sound effects became quiet (INSANELY annoying)
Parent
s_mixahead can cause weird stuff sometimes, even on default value
Playing with it at the moment, in default sound settings sounds work properly but with default mixahead (0.2) things still aren't right
Parent
that's what I used before for some reason...
Parent
You should only change them if you get sound stutters to be honest. It doesn't actually change the sound.
Parent
Why would you change s_mixahead and s_mixprestep :D
Parent
That's why you have the ability to tweak it!

I blame perfo for using non-default values making people think it improves sound.

I have same

Lets go back to XP
i have same thing with maus' cfg my thought was if he has it then it must be for a good reason so i never changed it

now i got used to it and i just count in my head
