a real martial artist is someone who has actually trained thoroughly in the art of self defense
tony jaa didn't actually learn martial arts from a sensei/trainer for any extended period of time, nor did he ever compete, but rather learnt how to perform stunts and entertain on camera..not saying the guy couldn't fight, but he's never competed and that's because fighting is not his profession, acting is
someone like steven seagal on the other hand, or say, jet li, JCVD are actually trained fighters who could really do damage on or off the camera set
Doing karate myself, you should checkout the movie Redbelt, one of the best & most realistic martial arts movie I've ever seen. I shows the true beliefs behind martial arts and every single fight is both fantastic & realistic !
I wanted to learn muay boran ever since I saw Tony Jaa :-D Don't know anywhere that does the old style muay thai, but I'll continue learning new school muay thai for now!
ohh yeah your history knowledge is awesome ;D
will fuck his eyes up.
