NAS storage

Thinking about buying a NAS soon to store all of my audo/video-files, make backups, etc. I've heard it can also be used for webhosting or DNS purposes so that would be interesting aswell.

Would be nice to hear who here actually own a NAS and:

- What brand and type?
- Why did you buy it?
- Price range

Synology seems to be the best these days but the design looks kinda bad.

Why does the design matter when it's a superior product?
So you'd be happy to drive a pink Fiat Panda if it has a Lamborghini engine?

You have a point! When I'm throwing a party I would want to make sure all my friends are looking at a stylish NAS.

i guess you didn't understand him. A fiat panda is not superior when it has an Lamborghini engine anyway.

A NAS is something you put away out of sight just for storage, just like your router/switch/modem etc. So the design is not important, perhaps there design has a function as well that you didn't look into. If it would look like shit and was superior in every way i would take the shit.

If it really is a lot better then.. yeah I'd buy it. But if the specs are similar and it looks like a pile of puke then the choice is obvious.

Which NAS would you advise btw :l

Of course if it's similar i would take the one who looks the best and has the best price.
I don't know since i am not interested in them.
