PS3 Hacked - Root Key Released

Basically allows you to sign any software and run it on the PS3, without the need for software, firmware or hardware modification. It cannot be fixed unless Sony change the hardware for the PS3 - but if they did that, all old PS3s will no longer work with new games. In other words, there is nothing Sony can do except push for the PS4.

At most, they can stop you from playing pirated games online with a firmware upgrade. But even this isn't straight forward and will probably require work on every existing game.

Can't be bothered even if it actually works and also don't want to run the risk. Every game I find worth playing is bought by either me or my friends (and that's not an awful lot of games anyway).

yea thats why i'm asking.i'm using it as media server mostly anyway,bought myself fifa 10 and got gt5 prologue from before...that are only games i own atm, seriously not any kind of ps3 freak...just like the way it is now, but wouldnt mind to try some games from time to time though

so how do you use these numbers? or whatever do you have to do??

btw this means now that i can download ps3 iso's burn them on a blu-ray disc and play them without even doing anything... or?

if the release has the key in it, and i guess every new release will have it, yes
