Ubuntu + ET = No Sound

Hi, me and Ethr have a problem with running ET and getting sound. I have everything up to date, followed the guide on Wiki... nothing so far seems to work. I can't find an alternative driver for it either...

Anybody who uses Ubuntu or even other distributions of Linux know the problem?

Thank you

Now you can start Enemy Territory with SDL sound support by running ./et-sdl-sound

i didnt try that...

just google it ,theres lots of solutions
The problem is that some people shouldn't be trying out Linux. Just stick to Windows.
desperate times, desperate measures

hahaha fucking windows nerd.

linux user calling someone nerd o.O nice one

linux is even easier

the fact that et aint made for linux and thats why it runs like shit (yet fps are smoother tbh) doesnt mean shit about the os
Parent
it's not.

e.g. look at a usual start-up skript. if you come from a programming background, everything might be clear and simple.
but i doubt that for the average user.

et sdl sound.
but seriously, you seem to be better off using windows.
what foxik said, oss4 solves the problem.
needs proper setup though
Linux + SLAC = no ET
plug in the boxes höhö

sdl sound is prolly the best alternative if you want to use ventrilo while playing. personally i prefer playing on windows though
I have been using Linux for a while, but as expected I didn't really know how to work with it, so I got back to windows. Instead of keeping my windows, I accidentally deleted Windows from my PC hehe :PP

but im all cool now :))

sudo et-sdl-sound :~>
well. Google it there are many solutions. Unfortunatly I had this problem too (openSUSE 11.1) and couldn't fix it so I solved it by using 2 soundcards (1 for ET, 1 for other stuff like TS3). It is stupid but it worked.... a bit cause you need 2 headphones :D
Default sound? ALSA? Sometimes get issues when running more than one sound source simultaneously, which is why I ended up using OSS4 which supported it all, so could go on vent, ET and listen to my music at the same time <3

well I tried to switch it. In 10.3 was all ok but in 11.1 I couldn't fix it dunno why. Now my 10 years old computer is broken and I'm using crapy netbook with broken keyboard :DD
