I'm curious as to why is he SLACbanned for this, or actually why is he even CBBanned instead of just giving the opposing team a forfeit in lack of evidence of actual cheating.
The reason says "Suspension reason: Cheating (Screenshot)", which means that it was a manual ban based on these screenshots. However, r_shownormals 1 is not a cheat (or is no more a cheat than noclipping or godmoding is), as it can be used with no additional programs by changing it in the server-side configs.
Let's say Bob, Jack and Gaylord are goofing around on their server. They have a trickjump- or otherwise modified config with sv_cheats 1 and they all have r_shownormals enabled. They're also playing with SLAC. Then all of a sudden SLAC takes a screenshot of one of them having shownormals enabled and submits it to the website. There's an awful picture of Bob using shownormals on his server now, and he has actually had nothing even remotely related to cheating on his mind. Will he get banned (SLAC or CB) for this ordeal?
Now, seeing that SLAC bans are supposed to be neutral (i.e. it shouldn't matter whether the cheating occurred in a match, on a public or in the main menu) there are two scenarios: Either both Bob *and* Needle get banned for using a cvar (which can be unlocked without actually cheating) or neither of them get banned. Seeing that there is a screenshot of myself being in a spec during a random 2o2 match with r_shownormals 1 (although I can't see anything due to speclock, and no cheats were used for that either) I quite hope it won't be the first scenario that comes true.
Also, because of them being just screenshots and this being a quite amusing borderline case of whether cheating occurs or not, I think it will be very difficult to judge whether to ban someone in future cases like this. But then again, it's Clanbase we're dealing with, and this is certainly not the first time they're being complete retards.
Yeah, only the server addon. Although Chaplja said he'll make it so that the client will always think that it's set at 0.
I think it's a pretty bad way to solve the problem, though. A better way would simply be giving a forfeit for using them in Clanbase matches and not doing anything related to the subject SLAC-side, but seemingly Chaplja was just a CB's bitch in the end.
