Law Abiding Citizen was superstupid to be frank. The final resolution made no sense whatsoever and their attempt to create a surprising new-age thriller was more than poor.
The Prestige: It's been a long since I last watched it so I can't say much about it. It's been the first time I recognized Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman as an actors rather than muscle-packed action heroes (I haven't gotten around watching The Machinist yet, I admit shamefully) and it's a well thought out story about two competing magicians fighting for more than just the ultimate trick. Also, David Bowie and Scarlett Johansson.
Inception: Needless to lose too many words about that movie. It's meeting the perfect mix between popcorn movie and smart story, leaving the smart people thinking about basic philosophical principles, moderately intelligent people thinking that they're smart because they understood the plot and leaving simple people enjoying the flashy special effects. Leonardo DiCaprio also proves that Titanic and The Beach were nothing to base his acting or his reknown on.
V For Vendetta: A comic book adaption about a freedom fighter in an oppressive, barely futuristic Britain with a bald Natalie Portman and a well disguised Hugo Weaving that loses almost all its impact and meaning when you're not familiar with England's/UK's history. Everyone that identifies with the Guy Fawkes figure doesn't really know what Guy Fawkes was about and sees a pretty intelligent and disputable story with the simplest set of eyes.
Law Abiding Citizen: A wannabe-intelligent thriller tending to subvert the viewers understanding and intelligent of basic story plotting by implementing stupid twists and turns that, when thinking about it, don't make any sense at all. In the end, the only even remotely brave story-telling device is making you sympathize with the gruesomely killing main character, which, in retrospect is achieved by the simplest of means.
Sherlock Holmes: A fairly light-hearted, steampunkish rendition of the old Sherlock Holmes tale featuring a charming-as-ever Robert Downey Jr. as the well known detective. It's Hollywood at its... I don't want to say best, because it's way too mediocre and forgettable to be that, but well, it's good entertainment after possibly studying Sir Conan Doyle in English Lit class I guess.
Machete was meh,it was alright i guess
