d: is gone missing

sup guys? :))))

so last night i switched from linux back to windows XP.
everything went quite fine, except that my d: partition is missing now... dunnow where it is and what to do; basically 130gb just went p00f D:
anyone had the same or a similar problem?

help appreciated!

it's ext so windows cant see it. boot from Linux live CD, backup data, and format it to ntfs.

or just find one program on the internet that you can check files from linux while being on windows.

or, it was from windows to linux, dont remember but there is one program like that

it's called fs driver and it doesnt work 100% depending on type of ext partition + it's faster to boot to linux if he still has installation media available.

i havent banned anyone

yeah you still have ext partitions. try to right click those with no file system (2 upmost) and see if you can remove / format them

yup worked! formatted to NTFS and now they show up. too bad everything i had on them is gone now :( well at least i can use the hdd space now!

also: i still have couple of MB allocated, what can i do about that? could that be my missing data?

you should be able to recover the files using test disk if you dont save anything in the mean time :D

no if you formatted the partitions where the data was. you could have saved everything with live CD.

you could redo your partitions to get those few MB's in use but i dont think it's worth the effort when you have +200GB drive.

well the weird thing is that i had the data on my d: drive, linux OS was located on the c: drive ( the drive i formatted last night )
i didnt format the d: drive so i have no idea how the data could have been removed.... well guess i cant fix it anymore, should have backed that shit up before formatting! D:

i guess it is ext filesystem?
maybe partition magic can convert it to ntfs, not sure but its worth a try :)

Reinstall xp and check in partition that its not left unallocated.

1-use ubuntu live
2-retrieve important info from that partition(must be in ext3 or somthin)
3-format to ntfs
4-it shows on xp now
5-everything went better than expected :)
