Fedor vs Silva (spoilers)

While fight fans couldn’t wait for the return of Fedor Emelianenko, it appears his loss to Antonio Silva in the opening round of the Heavyweight Grand Prix may have been the legend’s goodbye.

Unfortunately for Emelianenko, Cinderella’s glass slipper fit perfectly on “Bigfoot” in their quarterfinals matchup. After a wild opening round, Silva used his superior size advantage to plant Emelianenko on his back and batter him for the better part of the 2ndRound.

Although he managed to survive the barrage, the cage-side physician wouldn’t allow Emelianenko to enter the final round.

Game. Set. Match. Silva shocks the world and advances to the semifinals.

Following the loss, Emelianenko suggested his loss to Silva may have been his swan song.

“Something went wrong from the very beginning and I didn’t manage to readjust myself,” Emelianenko said after dropping his record to 31-3 (1 NC). “Maybe it’s the time to leave. Maybe it’s high time.

“Thank you for everything. I spent a great, beautiful, long sporting life. Maybe it’s God’s will.”


Is it really time to say good-bye to Fedor? :(
