We've got a mk3 golf vr6 that comes in the workshop sometimes, mmmmmmmmm <3
sad part is that the previous owner got it lowered and didn't have the stock rims, so next steps are finding proper vr6 (BBS) rims (soon :p) and decent suspensions (gonna keep it a bit lowered, but not this much, and good suspensions are quite expensive)

Plastics around the arches look a bit faded too, get a heat gun and it somewhat gives them a permanent restoration of them ^^
Dunno what you mean with the heat gun, but plastics aren't my top priority
This year i'll probably just:
- change the seal of the head of the motor (currently leaking a bit) (with some help hopefully)
- change the intake manifold at the same time (i'll put a 2.9L one :D nerd)
- put an abt chip (+15 cv they say ... well i can get one quite cheap so np)
- rims + suspentions (maybe)
Then I hope i don't have a major failure for 2-3 years (time to finish studies, get monies, and a proper garage ! :D) and then i'll do a full motor restoration + custom camshafts + bigger injectors + bench reprogrammation + probably more stuff but I haven't fully looked into it :P

We have a family business (car garage that covers spray work, mechanical, classic restoration <3 and pretty much anything to do with cars /do bikes sometimes if requested too) but atm I'm a student doing motor vehicle mechanics so :PPP
According to wikipedia 20mpg is around 14 L/100km that's quite high :D Well if I drive only in the city i'm around 13, and 9 on mixed cycle (city, outside the city and highway). That's between 32 and 22mpg :)
But i don't drive much, only around 12 000 km/year, so it's not really a problem (...yet).
Taking it on a track day I was getting <10mpg so yeah... :D
Can imagine your 2.8l being quite fuel efficient too ;-)
