Brain tutorials

Quite a while ago eujen made some sort of a tutorial where he explained one and another about spawntimes and how this inflicts decisionmaking of players ingame. The tutorial was a bit shit because he was joking around with some guy on comms and often lost track of what he was explaining. It was very messy.

However the idea was good and after years of playing I notice that a lot of players (on all levels) still don't understand the principles of decision-making/positioning/prediction etc. So for the last couple of months I have been thinking about making a website with streamed tutorials so i want to know if the community would like this idea.

####################################################

In general:
- website with streamed hd tutorials
- easy to understand lessons on different levels (rookie, beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert).
- I will probably make rookie > intermediate myself. Advanced and expert level tutorials will be different, and will contain more specialized (psychological, stylebased etc.) tutorials by "guest"-tutmakers (hopefully topplayers).
- based on the conscientious learning method. This means that you work your way upwards through a spiral where you will revisit past subjects on a deeper level.

Very basic (there will be more subjects):
rookie level:
1a positioning
1b prediction
1c decision making

beginner level:
2a positioning
2b etc etc.
2c etc.

If you understand 1a, it will be hard to understand 2a right away without understanding 1b and 1c. Hence the "upward spiral".

Tutorials:
- Tutorials will be streamed videos
- Tutorial will consists out of:
++ general explanation of the subjects which the tutorial will be explaining.
per subject:
++ Explanation of the general idea/how it works.
++ demo's which show a similar situation as the subject of the tutorial where a critical move is made(mostly mistakes, but also some good moves), and a breakdown why this is a bad/good move.
++ 2d map where allied&enemy positions are shown and possible evaluations (through arrows, drawable areas etc) of moves/positions. Will probably make a fast app for this that will be made available to guest tutmakers.
- Text underneath the video that links to other helpfull stuff, for example:
++ configs,spawntimers,scripts.
++ helpfull videos(such as aimtraining by razz.)
++ etc.

TL;DR: Website with alot of "eujen"-like easy to understand streamed tutorials, explaing the principles of et to help both you and your friends gameplay to the next level. +advanced&expert tuts by topplayers.

my question: Would like that / don't care?

sounds as good , as useless
hence is why i posted here to see whether people would like the idea or just completely don't care. If they don't care, it's useless. Otherwise if there's a healthy amount of interrest it would be a fun project :)

it might work out for new players , althou they dont care about etpro , they play nq jadmoy mostly and improve on their own , which is nice imo .On the other hand if u willing to improve u will figure out everything on your own , except TJ maybe , so its useless imo.
anyway nice idea and i support ur move , if u r motivated .

But how long it takes to understand the game somehow good(competitive)? 2-3 years? Isn't that kinda long time if u do it by ur own? Yes it is.
Tutorials like these are meant to reduce the time spent on learning and help people who want to get better or people who just wants knowledge. What is the most important thing in competitive ET(as a individual player)? Yes, "how to read the game"; understanding spawntimes(both) and acting based on this info + what u know otherwise(where are enemies, how many alive, what they are gonna do, other infos from voice...). Aka playing smart.
Parent
well, understanding takes like 1 hour, its all logical as it is . Playing like that , takes years , which wont be faster just because u reed a tutorial .
Still i dont believe that there is a better way than playing the game .
Parent
would like it

though: 'all rights reserved to eujen'
u need it no brainer! ~8)

YEah right!

have fun....
je bent te goed voor deze wereld nick
Idea is nice, but i doubt if its really worth it
sounds very interesting but a shitload of work :D

I can give you demos of how you can do it wrong :D
dont do it for a dead game
i call that shit "brain & experience", not brain tutorial
No no, dont make it, my occasionally working brain is the only thing keeping me competitive at low+ wars ;/
would be nice for new people but will you dare to do it?
People who make brain tutorial shall always be challenged with some mockery and random trolls but should be a fun and doable project overall.

How about make a site of "Do not" -videos, then you wouldnt get mockery for it since the point would be learning through failing :)

Quote++ demo's which show a similar situation as the subject of the tutorial where a critical move is made(mostly mistakes, but also some good moves), and a breakdown why this is a bad/good move.

learning from mistakes is the best way to learn.
Parent
no because we already have FinlandBossHK's ET tutorial pack
sure, go for it
sounds like a really good idea. would be nice if people could just upload their own videos and shizzle

e: and someone make a tutorial how to hold down "shift+w" so people will move forward on spawn.
what will you charge?

In poker trainingsites are frequent and prices start at 270$/year

Noone is willing to pay tho, if you do it its for community and maybe commercial incomes (wont be much, barely a public to reach)
i really doubt this is his big business idea
Parent
nice idea mate , would be nice to see some nice brainerZ
nice idea, can help if needed(with tutorials)
gl, shitload of work ahead, but could come in handy for some ppl (& me :()
could be really cool! :)
sounds good, but why dont you just upload it to vimeo or youtube?
nice idea, gl!
I made that kind of tutorial pack some times ago: http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=news&mode=item&id=6200

But I noticed that the concept was way too large, and I tried to cover everything. Lost interest about middle of that project, but still finished it. Competitive part is ok, though I would do it better now. And that said, I am planning to do new tutorial, focusing only to competitive playing, trying to cover everything, starting from "what is ET, how to install ET&patch it, etpro, slac, cfg, tuning hardware and then ofc the playing itself, focusing a lot to how to read the game".
Thinking about differents recording methods, maybe CamStudio for "installing ET blablabla", and then cameras recording mouse, keyboard and monitor(depends how clearly the game is shown when recording monitor with external camera). Last time I used avidemo, it's ok, but might be nice to use external cameras to get some depth and one-to-one "coaching" -feeling lol ;)

After that I'm thinking to do very simple and clear ET website, where those tutorials can be found(also .pdf/.txt files to read). Maybe hosting them on some paid streams like Amazon S3. Might get extended later to different kind of ET related things/tutorials. Dunno. And ofc I'm gonna put Donate -button there too, if someone likes it, 5e is always welcome, but ofc it's totally free to use/read/view ;p

Let's co-operate?
i just pretty much watched the whole thing. It's some way towards what i want to achieve, but not with the painty pictures :p And your accent is awesome xD Furthermore you have managed to explain the basics of alot of things and show an example but every subject was very short. I'm planning to make it a bit longer and even more watchable. Not a bad job though! :)
Parent
Ye, as said I would do many things better now, including longer explainings and better organizing, but it's done and time to focus only competitive and make it good one :p

Edit: did u watch it from Youtube or did u download the whole package? YT videos don't have .txt files that contains some information too ;) Also there are no any other txt files/even chapters, just videos.
Parent
would like that!
Vulperhorst strikes again
I like it,
nice idea if u have time
