Just curious as to how many players or browsers of crossfire use sky?
I signed up to their broadband December the 11th and they finally activated it all the 1st of March, the tuesday just gone. They are trying to charge me for broadband and phone line connection use from the 5th of February and I am like WHAT!?
But what I really want to ask sky broadband users or if you know anyone with this service is:
Is sky broadband always shit?
Does it ever stay online for longer than 3 minutes?
Does it seem more or less Dial up to you?
On top of this all... I wanted to phone their customer services helpline to sort this out once and for all. Only to look at the last minute at the small print. "£9.04 connection charge with a following 5.4p a minute after that."

On top of this this was the shortest term (12 months)
the fibre optics was put in for free and i'm paying £15.75 a month (started a 10 quid a month for 3 months) and i get a steady 10Mb/s any time of day and night, very little lag and yeh all round i'm very very very pleased with it
i can't comment for the phone and TV though (actually the TV seemed a bit of a rip off unless you went for the expensive packages)
when I moved from my flat in Reigate back to bournemouth I took my virigin with me and had no problems atall
Whats the 160 quid fee for ? :S
I am currently paying £7.95 a month for broadband on a 12 month contract. Virgin also charges you if you want to move house (Which I am planning on doing very soon!)
I had the problem with the BT line being disconnected in the flat I was in in reigate. BT wanted 160 for reconnecting the phone line. I'm guessing that since you have a longer contract with Sky so they don't mind doing it. I moved house and I didn't get charged a penny (actually they gave me £15 coz they made a mistake :p).
That 160 quid is only for reconnecting the BT phone line, they install their fibre optics for internet and TV for free.
before you even talk "i want to speak to your supervisor"
if they don't help you "i want to talk to your line manager"
done
I have already ruled out o2 because they cocked my mobile up and I refuse to give them money. Sky is shit. So it's either Virgin or BT now.
Does it ever stay online for longer than 3 minutes? yes.
Does it seem more or less Dial up to you? nope.
I have been with skybb for a couple of years now and never had any problems with them at all, we have the phone package (free evening and weekend calls) and the upto 20MB connection, we dont receive the full 20MB obviously, a lot depends on the the equiptment in your local exchange and how far away you live from it :)
All these companies make cock-ups (and in some ways, I can appreciate this because we all make mistakes, and the systems are inherently run by humans).
Basically, they first week, it would go on til about 1 oclock, then it would stop working for the rest of the day.
Whenever we get a phone call the internet goes off for about 30 seconds.
like has been said previously. every provider will have a horror story like yours :( equally, it will have a guy down the road from him who cant say enough good things about them. its the inconsistency in service from the providers that does my head in, coupled with customer service skills usually employed by money lenders extorting money from the weak.
sit tight for now, im guessing youve no choice anyway though cos you've signed some watertight contract for 12 months that you'd have to fake your own death to wriggle out of... :*(
imo you should stick to lower transfer rates, until you can guarantee everybody gets what he`s paying for. and then increase the speed :) imo the german system is better, u cant get over 32mb (afaik), most users have 6mbit, but its stable most of the time. i`m with a big provider, never had ONE SINGLE disconnect / connection loss / w/e in the whole 9 months im with them already :))))
i`m just upset about providers promising you a huge amount of dl capacity, but in the end they just can`t deliver.
I had a 48 ping until they boosted my inet speed by ~40kb/sec .. now stable 98
i live in a shit area so i have a shit d/l speed
true dat
