mgc application form

Hi,

Wasn't there a while back some application form or word-doc or something posted here on CF as a guideline to represent your team when you apply for sponsoring to mgc's?

I found this already, but that's not exactly what i'm after.

So if anybody knows wth i'm talking about. Post me the link plz. Thx!

Grtz,
psy

I don't know of that exact file but I'd recommend:

Intro paragraph[/u]
your name & who you represent

What is ET[/u]
brief description of the game + relevant tournaments

Our team[/u]
list players + achievements

Upcoming competitions[/u]

What we expect from you[/u]
what you want from the MGC

What you can expect from us[/u]
what you offer the MGC

contact details
thx, will get me started already i suppose ;)

i'd rather put the stuff that makes you interesting for them on top

Bear in mind the application will likely be attached to an email which outlines why they should be interested in your team in the first place, therefore they're not reading your application unless they're interested.
Parent
ye but the text in the mail itself should only be a teaser in my opinion - and it's not like you're disallowed to bring an argument or two twice. the application file itself isn't supposed to be a novel where the most exciting part comes last...

also, most mgc are not newsrooms where they really ignore stuff by random factors. i think most if not all people in responsible positions in mgcs have enough time/interest to go through every application if it's not built out of 5 attachments and x weblinks and videos
Parent
;/ what is there not to understand?
Parent
Why are you 'correcting' my suggestion to this guy?

I just used this exact format to get an MGC and it was applauded by many others.
Parent
i am not 'correcting' you, i am just giving you my thoughts. if u think being successful means having done things perfect i am sorry to inform you that you're wrong. also i would like to know who applaused you for this?

if u have an argument why not to bring the key points first in an application (and in many other occasions) please elaborate...
Parent
I don't have an argument. I'm not trying to argue with you. I'm saying this is how I constructed our application for MGCs and it was well recieved by every recipient.
Parent
and i was just saying that it could be done better. additionally, i guess you were playing in a top team so side factors like the layout were not top priority for the recipient of your application - whereas P5Y prolly needs some more effort to present his team in a positive way
Parent
I think he doesn't want your opinion since he was just stating how they did it
Parent
it's ok if he doesn't want my opinion

but it's also ok if i just give my opinion?
Parent
he's baggiez

deal with it ':D'
Parent
Baggiez has removed you from his buddylist !
Parent
not my team but yes ;p + could use a hand with what makes the team interesting, all i can come up with is coverage here on cf & via gamestv & via logo-shirts on lan :o
Parent
there is not much more to come up with i'm afraid - don't forget to give some interesting figures like hits/day etc on relevant sites... i think it would be best to talk to some people who did applications already and can give you some input. seeing this journal is pretty empty though i would suggest to pm people who recently joined a mgc and directly ask for ideas :p

http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=news&mode=item&id=6166

this was one that came up with quite a while ago, it has moved on from this now and really should be updated a bit. As a team try to highlight your biggest asset, skilled individuals? stable 2+ year together team? constantly improving? etc.

The biggest thing that you need to outline as well is what you can offer an organisation OUTSIDE of just playing officials and attending any lan events - as any team they get will play games and potentially attend events, its the extras which set you apart from other teams,

do any of your team shoutcast for instance? would any of them be able to write news items for crossfire / the organisation site to draw traffic? etc.

something that is missing in the doc is a what we offer / what we want part.
