I'm on my old pc because my power gave up. Trying to boot ET with slac. Before it kept crashing my ET because it couldnt write to autoexec or something. Now that I removed my profile, I can start the game but if I try and exec a config it just crashes again.
Any thoughts?
Any thoughts?
tx anyways guys
dont think 300v is enough for both by cpu and gfx card
did you buy the pc pre-built? every psu i bought on it's own had a 10/15/lifetime warranty
Ye I built the pc myself, but dno if I have the receipt. I might go buy a new one tomorrow since I have to play a game.
Found it sort of weird that it just stopped working, my pc isn't responding at all. Do you happen to know if you leave out the piece o metal thats supposed to close off your pc at the back (around all the connectors), if that might affect anything? Only thing I could imagine doing wrong.
psu could break if there was a power surge or something causing a problem on one of the rails that carry the power or a component may have fallen loose if it got knocked REALLY hard :s
still theres a pretty long chain of things to test if you want to know for sure;
(even the wire that connects the power button on the case could be at fault if NOTHING happens when you try to power up - generally i find the psu will at least spin up the fan if it's not totally fucked but if that wire was dead it wouldn't get the "on" signal? :D)
if you have the time / will you could take the gfx card molex out from the good mobo and try to boot it up with the less powerful PSU; at least if it'll boot with the weaker psu you know the mobo is ok (and you won't damage the psu if you dont power the GPU :p)
Thing is, if I connect the psu it doesnt even light up. I mean, if anything else was fucked up, I would be able to atleast enable it, right?
There was some power surge or something. I switched on my power box and the entire electrical net went down and I had to replug the fuse. When I did that, it went down again untill I disconnected a few appliances throughout the house.
I just hope nothing else is busted because don't have the money for alot of new parts and all my uni work is on it.
Yeah I guess I could just use the old psu with the old gfx card, but by the time I have it all switched out, it's going to be already too late and then I would have twice as much work tomorrow.
so if the kettle lead works with the weaker PSU and the dead PSU doesn't show any life when you plug it in i suppose the only thing you can do is replace it :{
ps if you have the cash get a modular psu so much less cabling bs the case its amazing :)
Those cables are annoying, but even with a modular psu the cables need to go inside!
good song
