the departed or shutter island

so i wanted to watch a movie tonight but i couldnt decide between this one or shutter island

im leaning towards departed tho (im gonna watch both anyways, but this is important)

if you've seen both movies tell me which one you liked more

also, there was this night, the departed was on tv. and i saw what happened in the ending. so the question is... is it still watchable after the movie's ending has been spoiled?

are you saying yes because you're a die hard fan and you watch it every day or are you saying yes because you're really sure the ending has minor effect on the story?

i was confused of which one i should watch and i have this saying "if i cant decide between 2 things i just pick a third one" so i ended up watching reservoir dogs and omg what a good movie, but anyways gonna watch it tomorrow so ill tell you then :D

shutter island end is predictable aswell so really it's your call, i'd watch departed because its been ages since i saw it

Can't really remember much of the movie but I think I figured it out quite early cuz everyone was avoiding the other guy. Also then remembered the gun hassle at the beginning, made me sort of think that he actually could be a patient. Plus some other things I can't recall right now :D

It is pretty predictable imo.

actually, the ending is open.

there's no actual evidence he was a patient, and there's no actual evidence he was a cop.
there's lots of discussion online, but you're never sure.

well ye, but you can figure out that he's a patient, just by going through some scenarios, I wasn't surprised at all, it was one of my first guesses made on some small observations... Scorcese is a master tho and the movie was still nice so who cares ^^

movies like goodfellas,casino,once upon a time in america,godfather etc all have to amazing 1920/30/40 atmosphere which i really like, but i guess you've already seen those

great atmosphere movies i can advices are:
the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford
amelie
o brother where art thou
sin city

but its not exactly the same 1940/50 atmosphere, if you want that watch just every mafia movie you can find :)

Did you mean the year 'atmosphere' ? Or something else, because I dislike the years but I really enjoyed the atmosphere of that movie. :)
