Suppose you were in a country where each person was either a truth teller or a liar(A truth teller always tells the truth, a liar always lies.) What single question could you ask a person that would allow you to detect whether that person was a truth teller or a liar?

dunno but when you find out, ask the guy who always speaks the truth this: "Is your answer to this question a negative one?"

It's very old and it's actually told as a choice between two doors. One door leads to heaven, one to hell. One guy always lies, one guy always tells the truth. You can ask one person one question. What question do you ask to make sure you get into heaven.

well, the truth teller would say , I am him.

But the liar would say the same right? As he is bound to always lie he will denie that he is the liar and therefor say he is telling the truth right?

No. The original question is "If I asked the other guy which door to open, what would he say".

The truthteller would give you the wrong door because he has to tell the truth.
The liar would also give you the wrong door because he would have to lie about the answer the truthteller would say.
