cursor moving on it's own

I have an mx518 and it seems that my cursor is moving on its own..

If I lay the mouse down and don't touch it, the cursor keeps moving on its own to the right and a bit upwards, fairly slowly but still noticeable..

I thought it might be to do with the relationship between the sensor and the mouse pad, but when i took the mouse off the table and held it in the air so the sensor was unable to detect anything, the cursor still moves in the same way..

Any idea why this might be?

thats what they call "hax"
I had the same. Bad demon-spirits have inhabited your mouse. Call an exorcist.

Check if there's a hair or dirt where the sensor is placed.
Already tried cleaning the sensor and the mouse pad.

i'd say it is dirt or a hair, try using a cotton bud with a tiny bit of alcohol on it

move the mouse in the opposite direction that it moves
profit
Well maybe you got another , shittier mouse connected?
Was wondering when my DA did that, and found out it was my other shit logitech
Ahhh yes thank you! Just realized i had my Deathadder plugged in but hid under a load of paper.. Took it out and it works! Thanks :)

Either your cable is bit weird and makes your mouse really move (test by holding your mouse, and see whether it stops moving), or you have 2 mouse drivers installed->delete one.
If neither, it must be a virus.

e: Oh, didn't see you lifted it, try the drivers..
sounds to me like an excuse to not go to lan
Had the same with my old mouse, but that was some shit one worth 5 € or even less.
its broken, had it also. Bought new mouse = Fixed!
Take the ball out and clean it.
