building PC

Considering upgrading my PC as its been a while, wonder if anyone has a pre-done list of good parts to get from their own build or something.

- Motherboard
- CPU
- GPU
- RAM
- PSU

I would wait for bulldozer and than make the choice between bulldozer or sandy bridge.

If you can't wait
P67 motherboard from good brand Asus/Gigabyte/Asrock etc
cpu i5 2500K
gfx GTX 560 Ti
mem 4GB/8GB ram with 1,5v
SSD 80~160GB
Samsung Spinpoint F3, 1TB hdd
PSU around 500W corsair/seasonic/antec/tagan etc
give me 5 mins and I will post something :]
You don't need a case or SSD/HDD?
reply to me when u do pls:P

ill get one of those SSD when i think its important, i have hard drive and case from current pc.

PLUS im going to win a cooler master case for my MEGA slogan in their comp
Parent
A SSD is important thats what you should think :]
Parent
You really should get one, it makes one hell of a difference in speed.

for brink :D?
Can i use your 'nVidia Geforce 430 GT (1GB)' as physx card?

And how about OC'ing?
with sandy bridge, that setup is not an option.
Parent
I pretty much avoided sandy bridge with the amount of recalls it had. I wouldn't advise anyone to get it because of the issues it has had either, although I am sure there have been some people who have had no issues at all :)

was one problem with new sata 3.0 that was fixed in april.

Ripped from another thread:

EVGA 01G-P3-1465-AR GeForce GTX 465 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - $199.99 (If you can afford it, I'd spend a little more and go with the GTX560, but this card is just as good... and I would go with a good name brand, like EVGA, ASUS, or MSI)

Antec BP550 Plus 550W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - $49.99 (Big fan of modular power supplies, they make builds so much easier)

Patriot G Series ‘Sector 5’ Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PGV34G1600ELK - $49.99 (haven't seen much on XMP enabled 6 series memory, but this should work just fine.. 4GB is all you need, but if you want to double it to 8, knock yourself out)

ASUS P8H67-M LE (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H67 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - $104.99 (I'm all over the place when it comes to recommending a good motherboard. ASUS tends to be the most reliable out there. As I mentioned, if you want to overclock you're going to need to get a P67 board, but the H67 will at least give you the option to use SNB's built-in graphics stuff... like Quick Sync, if you plan to transcode videos. This board is near the lower end, but still has USB 3.0, you can probably knock off $10 if you don't want USB 3)

Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500 - $209.99 (If you plan on OC-ing, you're going to want the i5-2500K, otherwise, this one is just fine)

Totaled, it's $614.95 US, I don't know what the etail/retail stores are like in Belgium, but I would assume you could get about the same for under 600Euros... If you had extra, I'd recommend adding an SSD. :)
If you're planning on overclocking, you're going to need to increase your budget.
Geforce 465's Are not that good, For around the same price you could get a 5870/6870 or even a 5850 would be better.

wait for ivy bridge gl&hf
/q lost^laNgo @#ls.et for your personal support 8D

some questions:
do you want a gamer pc only?
you want a quiet system?
do you prefer a gpu manufactor (amd/nvidia) because of the drivers etc.
what resolution do you play (size of your screen?)

at the moment you can only buy an intel sandy bridge system because amd is no competition atm.
if i would be you i would wait for the new amd bulldozer cpu launching at the end of q2/2011. then you can better compare between the new technologies of both brands.

here is my list if you cant wait till bd:

just an example and i dont know good pc companies in the uk.
price here in germany would be around ~550 euros for this setup
- P67 motherboard (100-150€)
- i5 2400 (160€)
- 2x4Gb DDR3 1600 (60-75€)
- HD6950 1Gb (190€)
pm zenix :P
I'm going for bulldozer but you could get a sandy bridge I guess. I'd still wait tho cuz the benchmarks that were supposably leaked during the past months turned out to be false.. If you're planning on getting a high end cpu make sure the mobo has decent power phases that meet it's specifications. Else you'll end up with a slightly laggy system.
