RAM Problem

I got a problemooo with adding a new ram module to my other pc.
Old RAM module = 1gb. I'm trying to add a 2gb module to the other slot but somehow the pc just won't start, not even going to BIOS, just a black screen.

When I only use the 1gb module, it starts just fine. When I replace it with the 2gb one it doesn't start.

Tried googling, didn't give me a decent answer, which I could continue with.

- None of the 2 RAM slots are defect.
- The 2gb ram module is brand new.
- DDR2 Memory.

inb4 try googling again. (yes I know you homo's will say it.:D:D)

Parent
Nope it doesn't start up if I only try it with 2gb.
Parent
so yeah, mobo or u got rolled and got a fake ram
Parent
Did you check the ram speeds your motherboard can handle before buying the ram? should be something like PC3200 or whatever.. probably got the wrong speed ram
yeah, got the wrong speed ram, going back to the store tomorrow:D
Parent
should it be DDR ECC or non ECC?
wrong ram speed / wrong slot some ram work dual channel / do your motherboard support 2go per slot
