Good price/pc or not?

Hello,

My normal desktop is playing up (think the mobo is gone) so I'm thinking about getting a new pc. Is the following spec + price any good?

CPU : AMD PHENOM II X6 1075T (3.00GHz/9MB CACHE/AM3/) - BLACK EDITION
RAM : 8GB SAMSUNG DDR3 DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB)
GPU : 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 - DVI,HDMI,VGA - DX® 11, 3D Vision Ready

Price : £617 (no operating system as I have Win7 Professional I want to install)

1st! Not bad, but have you try to see some Ati graphic cards? I myself am a nvidia fan, but ati gives better price.
personally i don't like ATi, its never worked out very well for my. The best ATi option I had on this setup was an ATi 6670 which performs alot worse than the nvidia card.
Parent
for the rest of the thread listen to zenix!!

im using a decent ati card it does a good job for the price if you just want to play games but nvidia are actually far ahead in terms of drivers and implementing stuff like 3d, ati just can't keep up so if you're goin to be using this machine for anything like 3d, top end games, gpu based programming you'd be better off with nvidia for sure, also their drivers are better for tweaking game settings

and yeah, i5 is a solid recommendation
Parent
yup nvidia is much much much better for GPU programming which is something i want to carry on doing if I can
Parent
get intel
coming from a phenom user: get intel even if it is more expensive.
this has more cores, more cache and more Hz for a small price than the intel.. my i5 in my laptop is impressive but are intels really that much better?
Parent
from a guy with 1055T ( same as 1075T) but on 4GHz
YES! atm they are.
Parent
Yes they are. Go for a 2500k. The card you chose is nice, what mobo, PSU etc? Get some RAM with loose timings (4-4-4-12). Overclock it with a nice cooler on it. I used Noctua and they're amazing. One, of the best (if not the best) company for cooling devices out.

I recommend OCZ PSU, Asus mobo and Corsair RAM. Get a cheap HDD, and buy a small (64gb) SSD. Windows on SSD with maybe best games you play, and other stuff on other HDD. Wickeeeeddddddd
Parent
well with an i5 the price is 693 (like for like on the other stuff like hdd)
Parent
If it's too much money, just wait a couple of weeks or months until you're financially stable for it. The 2500k will impress you, if you get this AMD, you will regret it after you try a 2500k. Last time I tried an AMD CPU it sucked :(. Intel are leading the way now. Which is why you see AMD working with graphics cards now. They hardly ever release processors to the market. AMD / ATI.
Parent
im interested to see how the AMD Fusion CPU-GPU hybrid works but I think thats going to be for laptops only to start with
Parent
4-4-4-12 on ddr3 lol i dont think so.
Parent
You can get 9-9-9-24, which is relatively the same. You can get a nice clock out of it. Stable too.
Parent
trust me you 'll regret it like i did :) (tempted by the relatively low price)
Parent
hehe true does seem alot cheaper but everyone says intel is better :p
Parent
Phenom 2's are 10x better than the old Phenoms. Also, with gaming, its all about clock speed
Parent
Ethr, what matters is the architecture, even the 1100t cant equal the i5 2500k, thats the processor u gotta get. + hes cheaper
Parent
Get i5 2500K with a cpu cooler and clock it to 4.6/4.8 GHZ EASY. I currently run this on a stock cooler @ 4.2 ghz and get 60 degrees at full load with prime95. This i5's are WAY better then those phenoms and deffinatly worth the extra cost.

If u do want to run AMD wait for Bulldozer but then again. U can just as well go Ivy bridge at that time. als take the GTX560 Ti version. It will perform better!
Parent
expensive, since pounds are even more worth than euros i got this for my brother.

Intel Core i5 2500K Boxed € 164,26
Seasonic M12II 520W € 66,-
G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL DDR3 SDRAM € 71,45
MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC € 197,50 € 197,50
Asus P8P67 (Rev.3.1) € 126,-

650 euro with a shop, much more performance and good PSU.
this one comes built (custom pc place which built my last pc) plus im not sure if i5 is better or worse than the 6 core Pheonem but i'll check it out
Parent
i5 is better on almost every area, it can even overclock to 4,5GHz without many problems.
Parent
Intel are impressive nowadays with the CPU's. Intel released the 2500k and it's still amazingly good, and will be for the next few years. I've been out of the comp scene for some time now, but all I hear is good things about Intel. AMD was good for gaming back in 2004-2006, when Dual Core was first recognised. I remember getting 125fps with 6 ET's open. I got over 3000fps, but it froze my mouse and I couldn't move :D. I had it @ 2.2GHZ, with a 7800GT (lol). My Q6600 @ 3.8GHZ with 4870 didn't manage to get 200fps.

Honestly, if you wonna just play ET. Go for a nice Dual Core EXXXX from Intel, and go for a 8800 or something. New chips and cards are for newer games. Older games suck on them tbh.
Parent
i got a dual for pheonem and a 9800 GTX+ already :p ET runs perfectly fine on them but i want to play newer games
Parent
Honestly this would be nice;

2500k
NH-D14
GB UD4
Mushkin or G.Skill 8GB (4GB x2) 9-9-9-24 1600
Corsair TX750
WD Black 640GB
nVidia GTX460 1GB

- you could change the GFX, RAM AND PSU but that would be suitable for new games. That's the best I can come up with for your budget. It would cost around £600
Parent
Get Del :XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
pc stuff pc stuff lolz
try to get the i5, it's really a lot better.

I'm thinking about a new computer too, pm me if you want to know what I have.
i'm alittle bit out dated with all the pc's and hardware, can someone tell me what are the cpu's released after i7's? is i5 a dual core and i7 quad core?
after the 200gtx's series, which cards were released? ( i guess the 300gtx's series?) which are the bang for the buck, which is the best performed, and what average psu do they need?

(like the 200GTX series, there was the GTX260, which was the bang for the buck and a powerful card, twice 8800GT's power, 280, which is better than the 260, and 295 which is two 280?)
i5 and i7 are both quad core

i heard i7 is over priced though
Parent
what's the differences between i5 and i7 then? the speed and overclocking abilities?
Parent
the I5 and i7 are both quadcores.
The difference is the Hyperthreading on the I7.
This will make 4 physical cores and 4 "fake" cores extra for some extra calculation power (eg. Rendering , photoshop etc) but is compleetly useless for gaming as there are hardly any games out there that fully use 4 cores let alone 8! + with the Sandy bridge proccesors u can overclock to 4.6/4.8 with a good cooler wich will be more the plenty for the upcomming games for years to come.

Also on GFX cards atm the best bang for buck are ATI cards the HD6850/70 and HD6950/70 give the best price/performance. Sadly the ATI Drivers have never realy worked for me and arent really stable. There for i chose Nvidia. The GTX5** series are the newest cards. For gaming the best performance comes from GTX560 Ti and higher (570,580,590 these are expensive though) I currently run a GTX 560 Ti and i run everything on MAX with AA etc on. Brink easy 120fps stable everything high , BFbc2 i manage to get about 80/90 FPS stable everything on HIGH + AA etc
Parent
cheers. i have been reading about sandy bridge a year ago when it was only on development, is it released already? is it i5? isnt sandy bridge supposed to be i7's successor like nehalem was to core 2?

and what are the prices of the GTX560? Isn;t it worth buying GTX400 or GTX300? I mean I still have 8800GT and it still gives me EVERY game on max settings (except for Crysis) and GTX280 performs supposedly twice my card's, i'm guessing the gtx300 and gtx400 are twice what 260 is? or did i get the performance wrong?
Parent
Sandy bridge is the 2nd series of I5 and I7 proccesors. better architecture etc and much faster and more stable overclock and yes they have been released.

I bought my pc about 1 week ago with the following spec:
Case: Zalman Z9 plus (awsome case for the money!)
CPU: I5 2500K sandy bridge
Mobo: MSI P67S-C43 B3 (make sure u have a B3 revision board wich has all the flaws taken out)
Ram: Corsair XMS 4GB ram 1333Mhz (make sure ure ram is 1.5V max as Sandybridge cant handle much more)
GFX card: EVGA GTX 560 Ti
HDD: Samsung spinpoint F3 1TB
PSU: CHieftek 550W (re-used my old one , if i'd buy a new one i'd go for a XFX 750W or A corsair MODULAR psu)

it totalled me at 650 Euro and i had to build it myself.

The GFX card was at 207€ here in holland.Wich resolution ure playing at if ure 8800GT still maxes out anythign cuz i had that in my last pc and it wouldnt max out anything (maybe due my C2D @2.4ghz and 2 gb ram but oh well!:P) Paying for a GTX 200 series would be foolish as u would pay for old tech (2 years old or more even) the GTX 400 series are great cards but run very hot (mainly the GTX 480) but sure as hell gives a GREAT perfomance for the price. but like i said willl get very hot and uses alot of power. There form IMO the best choice atm is going for GTX 5** series also good clockers but havent done that yet!:p
Parent
very good config

the zalman z9 case is very very good no?
Parent
I got the Zalman Z9 plus case and i must say its fantastic. The plus version comes with extra ledlights and 4 Fanns build in the case ready to plug and play.

I think for the money (about 60euro) u cant get a better case there is plenty of space for big gfx cards i even got room to spare with the huge GTX560 ti and lots of cooling.

Only thing i didnt like is the cablemanagement that could be a bit better but hey for this price u cant expect to get the best of the best!
Parent
yes i want buy it with i2500k+msi 560ti twinfrozrII its a very good config :)

the 4 fan product noisy or not ?

(nice engrish :d)
Parent
Not realy noisy but ofc. it can be quieter depending on how much u irritate on it. Its not worth my money to make it less noisy. Althought the EVGA 560 Ti has a real LOUD cooler on it. That is worth replacing!
Parent
ah already see ure specs in ure profile. Keep the Q6600 buy a cooler and clock it to bout 3.8 ghz (if ure lucky) otherwise 3.6 and ure proccesor is good for another year or so.
Upgrade ure RAM with 2GB ddr2 and make sure u have a 64bit OS.

And wait for Ivy bridge or Bulldozer these are gonna be the new 2011/12 sockets from intel and amd
Parent
i'm in no hurry tbh, i'm playing everything on 22" and it performs just lovely. i also don't have much time either to play so i won't really be worried if my pc won't handle a game on max settings, it wouldn't be the end of the world
just wanted to get updated with the latest hardware
cheers

http://www.alternate.nl/html/pcbuilder/detailView.html?cn=1&tn=BUILDERS&kind=pcbuilder

on what could I save some money (not going to overclock and all that stuff dont know anything about that and want a pc that keeps up with the newer games for hopefully the next 2/3 years)
Parent
ure link is an empty pc build thing. U have to scren shot or send me pm with specs then i can help. But i must say its so goddam easy on Sandy bridge to go beyond 4Ghz its like they were made for it;)

Anyway send me a pm with a budget and what ure going to use the system for and if uneed windows or any perpherials and ill sort u out
Parent
i7 is like the top of the range stuff it's better than i5 but not enough better for the difference in price tags :P
Parent
And HT doesn't give you more FPS it can even be worse with HT. So i5 is good enough for gamers.
Parent
Aria.co.uk do pre-overclocked bundles on sandybridge based systems you get mobo cpu + cooler and memory. :)
See Aria on The Secret Millionaire? Get any of the deals he did?
Parent
prefer i5 2400 or 2500k if u can + 560ti

phenom died in 3 month :) because new amd proccesor incoming.(bulldozer)
got new pc yesterday, i7 intel fuxk yea 125 fps <3
get a better processor then its good ;) i5 imo
i would wait for the upcoming bulldozer. trust me they will blow most of intel cpus :)

lol and since when samsung did ram chips?
even if not inte prices will be lower
Parent
sick :) .. i've got the 1055T and my god it's an absolute beast :P
