Beats by Dre

So one of my friends is getting into Starcraft II. He's not a gamer by any stretch but he has quite a lot of disposable income and is happy to buy some gaming 'gear' as it were. Namely a cheap qpad & an MX518 (it beats the desk + wireless shit mouse combo he's currently rocking.)

Anyway, so we're talking about headsets and he says "Yeah I'm going buy Beats by Dre". I said "No, don't."

He won't listen. Help.

Tell them that they are great headphones, if you want to spend £80(++?) on the name and look. Strip that away and you've got a £100(~) headphone.

The who "beats by dre" is about the lable. It's just like buying some designer clothes. If you have tried to tell him then fair enough, but if he still wants them then it's probably the lable he wants.

Tbh, I know they are not worth what they are but they do look pretty fucking sick!

if you have £200 to spend on headphones then you may aswell get £200 worth of quality...

I would suggest something like the AKG K701, RRP of £400 reduced to £200...

All about the lable though. I know people who spend like £100+ on a shirt and not think twice about it. Personally M&S 2 shirts for £15 pretty good for me!

fashion can't be compared with audio equipment. diesel, fcuk, w/e are recognised with some pretty nice clothes whereas everyone knows dre beats are a piece of shit

Why not? It's just a normal set of headphones with a designer lable on same as a shirt with a logo on. It's just "fasionable" right now to have these beats headphones. Personally, I wouldn't buy them but we both know the people who buy them are doing it to look better than their friends or just to plainly show off.

I dont pay 350 for a shirt. And if you speak to me, speak about euros, nobody really cares about the pound mate :D

I usually pay max 10-20 euros for a t-shirt and that's it.

Bose QC3 for noise cancelling (i.e. the plane, travelling etc)
Sennheiser PC 333D for gaming
sennheiser mx w1 for everything else - absolutely amazing wireless headphones which i just got :)

the pro beats headphones are fucking sick and completely worth the money, that is if you actually need high quality headphones, when you actually make music (i.e. artists or DJ's) but for gaming? completely useless since most games dont even support the full quality the headphones give.
