wordpress offline?

hey,

my webspace went down but i got a backup with my whole wordpress folder right here on my desktop. is there any chance in viewing my "blog" here in offline mode? if i try to open some index or page files i just can see the code and stuff ;((

I would guess that the content is saved is in the database of your webhost. If you didn't save that, you are screwed. Sorrry :/

You need a server and database of wordpress. You can host yourself if you have Linux or using XAMPP on Windows.

well i installed xampp but there i just can "install" a new wordpress...but i want to have my "old" wordpress running ;((

Technically you can get it working again, you need the database though. You could always create all the tables manually lol.

Why not ask the company for the database? Surely they can give you it back.

you would need to run a local server and load the data on to the database first. I recommend XAMPP or WAMP (actually I recommend WAMP for windows)
