thats ridiculous. First of all this "bologna process" should be at most european countries(check the countries at wikipedia), plus this is at portugal for 5/6 years, old students had few more years for a lower degree :)
the bologna process is about self learning, the teachers are mainly just a help, it means we have more work at home. IF we succeed at the tests and/or works, we don't need to do any exam (unless we want to try improving the final result or we fail at tests/works).
im not studying in a bologna format, so i cant judge how its working exactly.
but im sure about one point.. a normal bachelor degree isnt more worth than a old 5/6 year degree. after finishing your master you have the same value (or maybe even higher?) compared to the old degrees. but after finishing ur master you also studied at least 5 years.
in germany the major problem is, that there arent enough places for master students, some studies dont even got a master degree avi yet! and compared to older degrees like diploma, currently pure bachelors will lose a jobfight against older degrees like a diploma (at least this is what ive heard about what german companies say about it).
so in the end your some sort of forced to do your master, which leads to the point that you will stay the same time on universities as with older degrees :)

well, you have your point there. Our old licentiate degree were 5 years long, master 2 extra years.. nowadays we can get both in 5 years (less 2 years then before), but it makes sense, they removed the useless stuff and replaced with better lessons n stuff.
we don't have bachelor degrees here anymore..
Bachelor 3 years -> gone
Licentiate 5 years -> Licentiate 3 years
Master 2 years -> 2 years
i think i'm not wrong about the old master, either way the bachelor should be 1.5 years long nowadays (we have something similar called CET, the payment is kinda similar in daily work), so theorically i have a bachelor and i should be finishing licentiate now (although i didn't signup for every lesson, finishing only next year).
we have both... usually 2 tests and 2 works per semester.. if we get a classification of 10 or more, we get approved, otherwise we need to study for a exam.
1st time it happens to me... i mean sometimes i didn't have to do any exam at 1 semester.. but this year i didn't have to do any exam at any semester :D studied alot tho :(
