install old drivers

good morning crossis,
in past i always tried to keep my gpu driver as up to date as possible. everything is working fine with the latest drivers... except my ET - im using a nvidia 7900gt.
for some reason each new driver (266.xx, 275.xx ie) let my et start with picmip 0, and 60 fps max. after vid_restarting i have my beloved picmip 3 back but still forced 60 fps -___-
i also entered the same values in the settings section, which i also used on the older driver (which is from 2006/07).. suddenly i get 125 fps there without any probs.. with the newer ones it stuck at 60.
since here are plenty geeks around, im hoping that maybe someone knows a solution for this issue?
e: problem solved by using the old driver again zrolfs

thats what i did the last 4 years... but somehow there has to be a possibility to use newer drivers on without stucking at 60 fps :/
go to the "manage 3d settings" in your nvidia control panel, and check vertical sync. if its ON, switch it to FORCE OFF.
doesnt change anything actually.. and i dunno why.
try to change r_displayrefresh maybe... or buy new gpu
disable vsync...
no effect.
So tell me why 60 fps ? Why not 58 or 62 ? It is very odd.
im using 60hz tft, but normally the problem should be done with the vsync settings (as it is done with the old driver). and as u said it is odd and i dont have a fucking idea where or what the problem is.
maybe u have r_swapinterval 1 ?

DONT FUCKIN USE NEW DRIVERS FOR OLD GRAPHIC CARDS. TRUST ME USE OLDER DRIVERS! I use driver 260 and its good :3
got pissed off once again and reinstalled the old one.
