i'd build around i5 and a mid/high range nvidia card, but you know, exactly what you want to get depends on how long you want it to be good for, what you'll be doing apart from games and stuff
www.alienware.com

if you dont have enough money for that, just play with the hardware there and buy it in some random onlineshop
alienware = shit + overpriced
Parent
well, ofc its fkin overpriced but their parts are awesome and their design just beats every case you can buy.
+ the service is amazing
Parent
the cases are ugly ..
Parent
dude , for those prices u can get way better stuff , and if you like those cases you would love some of the mod cases they sell arround, and even then u will save a lot of money compared to alienware. And i dont agre the service is awesome : ( , as far as i know alienware is dell and i have had many issues with dell guarantees so i do say its shit in my experience.
Parent
one of my RAMs crashed, the dell guy came around the very next day, checked my computer, came back two days later and put the new RAMstick in.

yeh i guess we all have had diff experiences., mine was bad :(

Why would you buy 1336 platform? When sandy bridge is faster? ( except the hexacores that are far overpriced )
Parent
dunno, that's what the shop adviced me to buy ?

If you can add things without pulling the price range up too much, you are welcome to tell me!
Parent
With sandy bridge, your price will drop
Get i5 2500k with a good motherboard look here http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/cat/834/socket-1155-moederborden.html enough choice.

haven't kept up with pc technology for about a year so i cant recommend anything, but heres some advice. know what you need and dont need, having an i7 might impress nerds but chances are you won't even notice the 0.01 seconds longer the phenom ii or even athlon ii takes , yet theres a 300-400 dollar difference. any money saved is money earned. unless you're a rich spoiled nerd, then you can buy best of everything :>
NO ATI CARDS PLZ THEY SUCK, they keep proving to underperform at high end games , i had a 58** at cod blackops and i cudnt play with more then 12 fps....
Was probably your RAM memory XD
Get 333 with a 6850 HD AMD.
Always have had AMD and will buy it.
Parent
nah had 6gb of 1366mhz
Parent
also, ssd to install games on = superfast loadtimes , or ur OS for fast boot whatever u want:D
PUT ALL MONEY IN GFX CARD, SAVE ON PSU!
just see my specs!

edit: they'll be enough for some years.
