Rate 25000 please?!

Hi 2 u!

Yesterday, i played some guys. All guys were easy targets (read:hittable) but 2 of them 'warped' like hell.

rate 15999 & rate 15000 both (maxpackets 60)

Madscientist told us several times warp (clientside) does not exist because it's all serverside... Imo it's just plain bullshit because i always knew whether i was shooting vs. 'the lowraters' or just the '25000dudes'.

Why isn't there a forced rate of 25000 or do you guys like to play some ghosts that strafe from A to C without passing B first. (don't know if it's really the rate that causes the problem ^^ )
Yeah, i kinda whined yesterday but I think a forced rate will solve at least my whineprob :D

the only reason for these low settings is that you are harder to hit/warp. every connection in europe should be able to handle this by now, else you should move a couple of miles west.

excuse my begging, it's only cos you seem to have so much and you don't want to share with the poor :<

it's not about handling ET normally, my ping is 50-70 and I don't lag unless ISP is fucking something, it's about the traffic (if you have read it all in the journal you would know that but oh well) and with the current rate it can "handle" ET normally

True, same for the maxpackets (100). Also we need to get the crouch hitboxes fixed asap and people with high ping shouldn't have an advantage for headshots (b_antilag 1 omg)

lol @ all the bullshit i have been reading here...

Rate is the 'rate' at wich you download information off the server, it doesnt affect the way you move on the server as for that you need information to be sent to the server, rather then downloaded

Packets = information you send to the server. If you have a laggy connection, ubersheize fps or some other netlimiter like performance enable cl_packetdup '1'; most ppl have it on anyway.

ppl using pax 40 to use lesser bandwith could aswell disable cl_packetdup but this might make them harder to hit. Seriously if theres any reason why 'laggers' are harder to hit its because of the way antilag works, and the knockback used in ET.

With connection like mine it doesn't really make any difference what netsettings me/my opponents use. Either I warp or my opponents warp. Sometimes I'm the lucky unhittable one, sometimes not.

Do you think I would make a journal because i want an excuse for getting owned? I'm not that narrowminded, it's just remarkable how many times i can say someones rate/maxpackets are lowered before actually looking to the players connection settings.

... If so, I would make one everytime I play tbh :D

It doesn't help I think. I have always played with rate 25000 and maxpackets 100 and with 48ping to decent benelux servers, ~60ping to german servers and still about 80% of my enemies call me (and my friends aswell) lagger / warper =<

I had 15015 rate, not 15000, and the other had 16000 not 15999

and your whine was so sweet, especially since I use that combo of rate/packets forever now and you are the one of selected few who whined

btw, how would all the "pro" players explain that someone is not better than them but just warp if rate was forced to 25k?

also I'd be happy to post .avi's taken from your perspective to show I do not warp (wolfcam ftw)



edit: was funny how you whined about the combination of my ping and rate, seeing as ping I had was 50....damned be the lowpingers!

I'm so sorry i didn't remember the ratevalues exactly (who cares if it was 15000 or 16000)
I reduced my whine to sentences like:
LOL, LAL, HAHA, "RATE 25000 PLS"

Anyway, I'll try to review my demos and point some things out and if I got the time, i'll try to get you some .avi files aswell.

Infact when I play some polak and after nl or german team I can see a big difference of hittability.

Why ? I don't know!

But my experience in wolf: et is when you come from poland and when you add lame settings you become unhittable.

Solution ?
force :
maxpacket between 60 to 100 (best is between 76 to 100).
And rate 25000 only.

Isn't our fault if their isp suck hard.
If they want to play again us they have to change their lame settings IMHO.

Huh yeah its true that polish ppl warp but i noticed that most of so called 'top players' in poland dont have this kind of problem.
What is cause of that ?

Dunno i dont have this kind of problem - im not skipping points loseing packets [except when im over the limit]
There are lots of providers which can allow you 2 play with normal maxpackets and rate so i think thats no longer a excuse.

people who live in a country where the internet still has a datelimit ( like Belgium me) can apply that rate & maxpackets imo

e.g.: i can only use 10 GB/month, using rate 15000 + packets 40 reduces the internetusage

btw it doens't rly make a difference, i don't warp and i'm still hittable, only 10 % of the guys we play against start whining because they are looking for an excuse because they are just.... losing...

and last but not least: the crouch-hitboxes are rly fucked up, in 1v1s i crouch a lot, that makes me pretty hard to hit.. so they go like:

wtf i can't hit him => /players => rate 15000 - packets 40 => ROFL LAMER WTF CHANGE RATE UNHITTABLE LAGTARD WARP WARP WARP

yesterday i even got kicked from some server because of my rate

For info:
maxpacket 100 = 2,30 ko/sec upload and 0.70 ko/sec download -> total loaded 3 ko/sec
maxpacket 40 = 1,30 ko/sec upload and 0.70 ko/sec download -> total loaded 2 ko/sec

If you play all the days 24h/24h in a month, you have a total of :
maxpacket 100 = 7,75 go downloaded
maxpacket 40 = 5,2 go downloaded

But if you play all the days only 4 hours per days in a month its only:
maxpacket 100 = 1,3 go downloaded
maxpacket 40 = 865 mb downloaded

So your answer is like bullshit.

the maximum settings that allow ISDN Players (like me...) to play ET proberly is rate 16000 maxpackets 60 (with 76 fps).

It's true that some people are hittable & some aren't, like when you hit them easely the first war, then the 2nd war you don't hit anything.
And 75% of the time the people that I don't hit are using 'lame?' netsettings...
I don't rly care about people that have to limit it because of limitations on their i-net (not that I'm convinced that I use more or less because of it, since i played for 1 month with less maxpackets & rate & I had 100 mb difference... )
So if it isn't limited you shouldn't play with the lame settings either.

Respect to rafiki, cause he dares to say it & get whined @ just for saying it...
I mean, it's what he think, no reason to flame him if you don't have a valid response...

maxpackets don't rly make the difference in how much bandwith you spend, but you can't tell me that changing the rate from 15k to 25k gives you only 100 MB difference unless you mean daily diff of 100MB (if not, then either you made a change from 24500 to 25000 or you have no idea what you are talking about)

If I wouldn't have that gayshit limit, I would play on 25000(as I did when I had 2 months of unlimited for free)

rate doesnt affect it. its all in your head. ppl looking for excuses for being owned. surely there are ppl that are lagging but its because of routers and stuff like that, not due to rate or maxpackets. just hide maxpackets and rate from /players and we will have much less whine.

I once remember me and rapt6rr trying to play with 1 rate or something and 1 maxpacket on some usa server without any cfg loaded and we could still hit each other pretty well.
