Another new PC journal [nl]

Hey guys,

I want to upgrade my pc so I've been looking for some decent parts for a decent price. I still have a working Samsung Spinpoint HDD and a 420W SPU (which should be enough I've been told although I am not entirely sure) so I probably won't need to spend money on that. Here's what I came up with so far:

Motherboard: ASRock H61M-VS
CPU: Intel Core i5 2400 / 3.1 GHz
GPU: Club 3D Radeon HD 6850
RAM: 2x Kingston 4GB DDR3

Total price: € 383,63

It's nothing too spectacular I assume but it is a major step forward from what I am using right now. I can get a w7 64-bit upgrade through my university for around ~50e (which, according to Google, should work on 32-bit XP if I wipe my HDD and do a clean install) and additionally I might get an external HD since I need to back-up the files I don't want to lose (p0rn LOLz).

Is this shit sexy enough to be considered a decent deal?

420W is prolly shit for 6850 would recommend 600W or even 800W if u wanna make it someday crossfire

How am I supposed to determine how many watts I need? I'd rather be on the safe side of things.

I thought about the i5 since it seems like a better cpu than an i3. I don't really understand your question :P

What kind of PSU do you have? Because if it's a really good brand and good type you can run with it. Never save money on PSU. And win7 64 works great if you download the BIE version.

Het is een X-Gear 450W PSU (CP4510C8F1). Als het op het randje is koop ik liever voor 60 euro iets waarmee ik veilig zit en even vooruit kan eventueel.

Duidelijk B merk, niet gebruiken dus. Tenzij je in de toekomst een knal wilt horen die harder is dan een strijker, en een fikkie wilt steken in de voeding. Daarnaast als die dan knalt, kan die ook nog even wat componenten meenemen, daarom is het verstandig om goeie voeding altijd te hebben.

Ik heb nog aan wat andere mensen gevraagd wat ze er van vonden en zij vertelden me dat een 430W als deze http://azerty.nl/0-1073-410215/corsair-builder-series-cx430-v2-.html zou volstaan. Ik ben gewoon een standaard gebruiker en was niet van plan er veel gekkere dingen mee te gaan doen dan gamen en films kijken.

Ik zit ook nog eens naar die processors te kijken en vraag me af of die 13e meer die een 2500 kost de moeite waard is (of voor 25e extra de 2500k). Mijn budget is ongeveer 500e (inclusief OS) aangezien ik heb gezien dat je dat daar een heel fatsoenlijk apparaat mee bouwen kan.

Als je het makkelijker vind of leuk lijkt om me nog even te helpen hiermee kunnen we misschien ook even op irc praten of iets dergelijks.

die voeding voldoet wel.

En over de cpu, dat moet je zelf beslissen een 2500k is wel leuk maar je moederbord is ook niet echt super om te overclocken. Dus kijk naar benchmarks en beslis aan de hand daarvan.

Ik kom uiteindelijk hierop uit dan:

CPU: Core i5-2400

Daar neem ik dan nog een externe hd bij voor ~40e en dan ben ik alles bij elkaar klaar voor rond de 500e. Ik geloof dat ik dan wel weer even vooruit kan :)

And i5, why not? it's not like i7 gives more fps.

It's not possible to have proper crossfire with a H61 chipset, and a board with only one 16x PCI-E graphics slot + one 1x PCI-E

My brother has i5 2500k and GTX 560W with 500W working great.
It should work with 420W, if it's quality.

Ofcourse, thats why most graphics card vendors also advice a higher W PSU, because not everyone has good brand PSU.

get a SSD, either intel 310 or 510 or and OCZ vertex
600 watt PSU and don't save money on this!
and take a i5 2500K easy to overclock this to 5 GHz if needed for any new games

totally agreed, but his board and fan should handle that CPU which is best buy atm imo
vertex 3 is expensive like hell right now, maybe a agility 3

I don't agree with the overclocking part. 5GHz is easy if you use enough voltage, but that will kill your CPU after a while, or a lot of degradation that will kill the overclocking capabilities. You just need to be lucky to have a CPU that can handle 5GHZ with a voltage that is safe for long term use. range 4,4GHz ~ 4,7GHz is more realistic, most chips will do that with safe voltage.

Also 600W is not needed, not by a long shot.
