I was browsing the interwebz and I landed on this website exposing a DOOM III mod based on the Enemy Territory gameplay called The Dark Sense of War
Has anyone ever heard about this project ? Any news about it ?

xD indeed
I am the developer of the mod. Iron sights are not going to be used. These shots were done for testing purposes, mostly place holders.
No gameplay videos have been shown yet (obviously). What you see are random test I did
for "Doom 3 custom iron sights system", nothing releated to the mod.
However, there is a zoom function for sniper rifles.
The project itself isn't really demanding, in fact, it needs less resources than Doom 3 game overall.
I just wanted to make it clear.
Great to hear that! May I ask there will be any CB/OB test for this anytime ? I know its pretty early to ask and stuff, but I just wanted to ask probably you can say anything.
Good luck with the project and feel free to advertise it at crossfire.nu
Curious note:
In fact, a Rtcw project was being made in 2005 (but got cancelled).
Take a look to this:
It was done with a:
P4 1.5ghz
256mb ram
geforce 5200
http://www.doom3world.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=9012
So, It's 100 posible to make a Rtcw/Enemy territory game in Doom 3.
You should ask for some help there. I'm sure some people would like to be involved in this project. We have a nice bunch of mappers, coders and designers :)
Keep up the good job, our community would be really grateful to see this a new mod released :)
1. The engine is free
2. The engine is open source
3. The engine offers comparable (if not better) graphics to Doom 3
4. Doom 3 is not free
5. Doom 3 is not open source
(6. I don't own Doom 3 and have no intention of purchasing it)
Oh, and the ET-XreaL engine is based on iDTech3, so everyone will have their favourite movement, which is not present in the Doom3 engine I think.
The project has been in development since 2007, now the question remains in the air:
Should it be et-Xreal or Id tech 4?
Et-Xreal has potential (I have used it, but it still needs optimization and fixes). I am thinking in the mp part (assets and stuff, from my mod to et-Xreal).
The gameplay has not been changed in Et-Xreal, since it's just an engine update, mostly in the renderer.
Also, as you mentioned, it's free.
That is, of course, if it isn't too much work to port it there. I have no idea how different the devtools are in XreaL compared to those of the Doom3 engine, but the author of it has stated that it should be easy for an experienced Doom3 modder to start developing for XreaL.
-Et-Xreal for mp portion.
-Id tech 4 for sp/coop portion.
I will check a little bit more Et-Xreal wiki.
AFAIK most of your media will work with xrealet and you'll have the classic gameplay which still has alot of fans - something unfortunately wofl2k9 didn't enjoy.
Xreal needs your media - you need ET's game play :p
seems sensible to me.
