i7-2600 Overheating

So i bought me a new mobo with a intel i7-2600 yesterday and installed it.
been checking the temperature today and in both speedfan and everest it keeps hovering around 83 degrees, even when idle.

i already took the fan control in the bios off so it would be on full speed, also already added thermal paste and ive tried to switch one power plug back and forth but it didnt help at all and i have no clue what to do now.

anyone knows?

Arctic Cooling MX-4 is better !

I prefer Ceramique tbh

Put some thermal grease between the cpu and cooler

oh and your cpu cooler isnt touching the cpu at all I think, wouldnt be that kinda of temperatures otherwise
did the paste, dunno for sure about the cooler, i do know its locked pretty tight into the mobo, but i dont know if its touvhing the cpu that good tbh, the cooling paste didnt spread that wel now i think about it, ill check that tomorow again

is your cpu cooler installed properly?
ohya forgot to write down that i also added soem cooling paste, i dont know about the cooler, how do i check whether its properly installed?
if its same cooler as i5 2500k, make sure its tight, it shouldnt move/shake at all even if u try to pull it off gently

e. ah yea its the bigger one, dunno then sorry :/

I assume that your cooler is either not installed properly or is damaged. You can either try to clean it, apply new thermal paste and put it on cpu rly tight.
But, if I was you, I would be considering buying some non-reference coolers. For example I could not imagine making PC withought having good cooler on it (highly efficient even on low rpms and dead silent even on high load), namely Noctua C12P or U14, depending on cpu and settings (I used C12P in my old PC because it offers good way of cooling NB).
I had same problem with my i5 2300 the box cooler wasn't in contact with cpu. When i have shake it a bit on mobo some how it help out, but afterwards when i have oc'd my cpu it still had like 70 C after 5 min with prime95 so I needed to buy a better cheap cooler (Zalman CNPS10X Performa) and now i got like 52 C max @ 3.5 ghz in stress
what squall said, ur paste
Check if there is a foil on the CPU & remove it

You might have also applied to much paste, which can actually cause issues, if you over apply it
the more the better i've heard 8l

*shrug* A thin layer, just barely covering the surface has worked well enough for me, rather not experiment to much with it tbh :P

Well if you put too much, it will spill anyway so guess you can't rly put too much!

You should buy another cpu cooler. I also had these temps with Intel boxed cooler, then I´ve bought the Scythe Mugen Rev 2 and overclocked my CPU ( i7 950) to 3,9 Ghz and got 39 ° C when Idle and ~ 70 ° C at max with prime95 test. When Im playing games on max Resolution and stuff it doesnt get higher then 45 ° C.
