Wine & food

So, my friends are going to visit my place tomorrow and we're going to play a game called "Risk". We're going to drink some wine. The question - what kind of food could be good to it? Can be a proper meal or simple things.

What wine do you have?
Poultry and game birds, veal and pork, rabbit fish and pasta preparations which feature cream and/or butter, mushrooms.
I'll probably have both white & red.

Well I don't drink white wine when I go out, but with red wine I like red meats, spaghetti, pizza is also pretty good with red win, ribs as well :D hamburgers, pasta, pork, anything with a strong taste works well with red wine, whereas more modest food is better with white wine according to my dad
Parent
Well, we're not going to go out - just play the game, drink and relax :D I prefer some food I can easily (and preferably quickly) make. EG. sandwiches with a pie and cucumbers are pretty good :P
Parent
Then cheese is an obvious choice :D
Parent
Yeah, it's something I can buy and that's it though ^^ And I'd actually like to prepare something :D
Parent
btw sry I forgot to call the hotels :S didnt had the time but gonna make it tomorrow for sure !
Please do !
Parent
wrote it on my to do list and will get an alarm on mobile phone and laptop so i will not forget ! :P
Parent

You cant really say what you can eat if you're not specific about what sort of wine you're getting, and with this I dont mean white or red but what sort of grapes that are used for the wine.
My one is from Portugal. Grapes: Castelao, Aragones and Touriga Nacional. No clue what exact wine others will bring.
Parent
Actually knowing what grapes were used is not that important... If the wine is good it is good...

It is kinda hot to drink red wine so I would go for the white.. :)
Parent
Well, unfortunately not in Poland :D

You're right, if a wine is good, it's good. Tho, I think that wines from countries like Chile, Uruguay, Australia, Argentina are the best^^
Parent
Those are all red wines, no? Sorry, cant help you with those :(
Parent
the year it was made can also be important
Parent
You sound really boring :)
he just wants to be pleasant (i think so), its a polish feature + next polish feature is that they will get smashed and not mind what to eat
Parent
kaasblokjes
That's quite the silly question! You can either pair food with wine or the wine with food.. But then again it all depends on the wine or the food.
Nothing spicey and nothing with a too strong flavor, you don't want the taste of the wine to be dominated by another flavor.
that picture is just story of my life! :D
All sorts of cheese with some bread.
zjedz skreta bez strachu bo narazie to zabawa zapowiada sie gorzej niz u cioci na imieninach XD
Cheese + bread + red wine = win
My uncle and some other ppl i know loves to eat some meat made on grill while they drink wine. So i think some tasty grilled neck or chicken would be great.

Or just take pizza, it fits everywhere ;D
Pizza - smth I can easily buy, do not want.

Grill - yeah, wine fits good, but no can do - it's a home party :D
Parent
You can always do grill on the balcony :D

So you can try some pasta, few days ago my friend cooked for me reaaally tasty pasta with some sauce with pieces of chicken(kind of spaghetti but better), also pasta only with garlic sauce is tasty, but pasta might be not a good idea if you expect more than 3-4 guests;p

+ maybe some traditional polish meals like a sandwiches with lard.

E: or amazing salat called "gyros" which should fits perfectly imo:P and because of "risk" buy some chips/popcorn/paluszk/krakersyi etc ;d

also bread and sliced on a plate sausages(wedliny), kielbasa kanapkowa(idk how it is in english), cheese, salami and horseradish(chrzan).

the choice is very large ;p
Parent
lasagne, my brother used to prepare it with red wine in the sauce already :P

so you dont want to do anything that takes too much effort, but can not simply be bought? hmmm make some or d'oeuvre and some cheese plates, should be sufficient, maybe some sussages or meatballs.

or are your guests probably REALLY hungry?
Parent
Nah, they won't be uber hungry ^^ Thanks for the tips, tho I won't make lasagne, cause I dislike it :D
Parent
cheese
salami
Salami - nice idea !
Parent
Wouldn't be a crossfire journal without wine.
get some cheese+grapes and baguette with the white wine and some sausages or meatballs with the redwine...
chips, sandwiches, wrustels, "bruschette & tramezzini" (just google it) :D
Bruschette - good shit !
Parent

Parent
