really its just about moving the air away, I have a Patriot 2 fan USB cooler, its quite good!

Mine got two fans (Zalman NC 1000), yet I don't really think the number of fans matters too much. Just make sure the cooler actually targets the right areas of your laptop.

For me it's the GFX card that overheats (located in the back corner), although my cooler received great reviews, I'm not really sure it fits my PC perfectly.. as it mainly removes air from the HDD area and the computer keeps overheating even with the cooler on.
