When Dota2 announced 1 million prize I taught LoL was in trouble...seems I was wrong, Dota2 is in trouble.

i dont think valve really care its not like they cant survive without the money, plus WoW is pay2play and that doesnt stop it being the biggest mmo around

better game will still be the better game, wouldnt surprise me if half of LoL's playerbase dont even know what dota is or that LoL is based on it, they wont be missed

Real big tournaments may not reach the 1 million again. Launch & stuff gets many many sponsors. It will only happen if the game becomes very popular right from the start.

I've been looking at some DotA stuff lately and I doubt whether it will get such a gigantic playbase as LoL has. They just can't get away from the fidgety graphics & UI which will make it hard to attract casual players.

do you have any idea how big dota's current playerbase still is?
because it might just be alot bigger than you think.

I do know that, it's just way smaller than LoL's playerbase and I don't know whether DotA2 can attract a BIG number of new players. Ofcourse they will steal some from LoL & HoN but furthermore I think it's not refreshing enough and it also doesn't stunningly surpasses LoL's graphics-style.

DotA is a predecessor to both HoN and LoL. Therefore I don't reckon them to be stealing anything. Won't deny the fact they might use something which has been a good improvement to the original DotA by the other games (though I guess this will only be the case with HoN).
