while youre at it you may want to allow maxpackets 125 and snaps 40 after 6 years of jagged gameplay x)
I though about it before and madscientist told me it's a bad idea to use snaps 40 because of some bug i can't remember. And if i'm not wrong, even if you allow 125 maxpackets, the engine only supports 100.


edit: oh, maybe it wasn't snaps... it was sv_fps 40 xD my bad

snaps 40 doesn't work properly because ETpro has been coded to work with snaps 20 (at least bani / reyalp / etpro nerds from the forum said so)
125 maxpackets works ? I thought it wasn't implemented in ET, only Q3cpma

try this on a config
command "sv_cvar cl_maxpackets IN 100 125"

command "sv_cvar cg_fov IN 90 140"

FOV 140 SHOULD BE ALLOWED WITH THE NEW WIDE SCREENS!!!!!

anyone with a brain can see all of these configs desperately need an update.

I have requested a fov "unlock" since last xmas when i bought a 24 widescreen. Been playing really shit since then because i play with huge black bars around my screen... r_mode 8 in order to use fov 120 properly...

to use 1920x80 with "fov 120" i would need something like 137 i think :|

And allowing simpleitems at 5v5 cfg but not at 3v3 is just pure retardness, they should have fixed it already.

Will test the maxpackets tomorrow then ;) currently at my laptop, no et installed there :X

It depends which fov you used on your old monitor. I used 105 on my 17" crt and should use 120,2 on my 24" wide screener.

It's not the same, not even close. Trust me, i've used fov 120 since my 1st week at et, more than 5 years ago, and it is just unplayable for me.

But the screen took me to much space and the colors were kinda yellowish, so i decided to buy a LCD 24' 120hz/3D shizzle, turns out it kinda sucks because i don't play at native resolution, ending up with a huge input lag comparing to my crt, plus i have to play with some huge black bars around.

Why? because this engine has bugs and people can fix them, but they don't want to. Its just a matter of change a fucking string inside global config.

Figured. I used 17" crt before as I told and moving to this 24" wide screener (full hd, 2ms, led but not full led) was pain in the ass as well, the fov looks strange etc. I'd be happy to try bigger fov tho. :)

From Old FOV: 1.3333333333333:1 aspect = 105 (FOV horizontal)
To New FOV: 1.7777777777778:1 aspect = 120.15955599101 (FOV horizontal)

And I am using 120. But if you used bigger monitor and different fov before it's different for you.

well, but you see less! IF i use fov 120 at widescreen, i see alot less comparing to a normal resolution. It feels like fov 105 or 110 max, which is a big difference for someone that have always used fov 120.

ITS A BUG, why not fix it?

et doesn't know how to resize properly for widescreen resolutions. The only "fix" is to use higher fog in order to get the "old" feeling.

We have changed some stuff around, why not change this one? Higher fov users at full hd would appreciate it.

fov change isn't a bug, it is normal due to the different aspect ratio. If you set your your monitor to it's native resolution, only the 2D will be stretched (xhair etc) but the game will look 1:1. But as the fov is calculated "in width", and due to the aspect ratio, you see less in height. So you have to increase it to get your old fov "in height", resulting in a wider fov.
Anyhow, it's pretty easy to get used to a lower fov. + it helps aiming.

ye, but thats something that the engine should take care in the first place. It's not my fault that the engine doesn't fully support widescreen resolutions :P

lua should be able to fix it, but the etpro lua is kinda limited. I am pretty sure we can't do this using etpro lua, but i am not a expert. :|

then a new mod should be coded ? which should be done anyways ETpro is super old and the person that made it has a dildo up his ass so he won't update it / release source.
