MATHS PROBLEM :>>

Ok 3 people @ restaurant pay 30 pounds (10 pounds each) to the waiter for their bill, the waiter gives it to his manager who gives him 5 pounds back for discount, the waiter takes 2 pounds out of this 5 pounds and puts it in his pocket and gives only 3 pounds back to the customers (so they paid 9 pounds each now), so they paid 27 pounds in total, and the waiter took out 2 pounds = 29 pounds ... the bill was 30 pounds ... where did the 1 pound go?

30 - 5 = 1 pound for each customer +2

they payed 28!
Its a logical mistake. You just cant take those 2 pound from the 30 pound they have payed firstly. They payed 27 pound (30 - 3x1). And the waiter takes 2 pound from those 27 pounds. 27 - 2 = 25 and the bill is correct.
the customers pay 28 pounds instead of 27.
ITS THE FUCKING STATE I TELL U AND THEIR FUCKING TAXES

ANARCHY FTW!
The problem is in this statement: "(so they paid 9 pounds each now), so they paid 27 pounds in total". That's just not true - (30-5)=25, 25+3=28, not 27; 28/3=9.33, not 9.

EDIT: Actually, I think I misread the question, I'll try again!
ehm, 28/3 is 9.33

think of it like this, if ur the customer, u paid 10 quid each, then the waiter gives u 3 quid back (u dont know it's 5 quid), then u paid 9 quid each ...

As Krein said - it's a logic mistake, you shouldn't add on the amount the waiter took, you should subtract it, since the bill was actually £25 (including the discount). The customers think the bill was £27, but what the customers think is irrelevant.

The restaurant received 30-5=25. The customers paid 30-3=27, the difference between the 25 and 27 is the £2 pocketed by the waiter.

yep, that's it!
the turns and more turns that the problem give, leads us to think as if we were the customers, and we should look at it as an outsider.

they robbed the restaurant and got there 1 quid back !!!!
manager got 25 pounds, waiter 2 and customers 1 each, makes 30 in total
That's a nice simple way of putting it :D

30 - 3(money they got back) - 2(money the waiter took) = 25

u cant say 30-3+2=29
yes thats what i said
