Movie ratings

Basically, most of us are watching movies on PC. Some of the movies we simply want to see and just download it. But in some cases people are checking movie ratings to make sure if a movie is worth it. My question is: how do you this? I mean, what portals do you choose to check movies? Do you watch on ratings? Which ratings do you consider as good enough to download a movie?

i use a combo of rating, genre, description and actors.
i normally just use imdb as reference
well, imdb, no?
just imdb.
if the movie is above 6,5 and sounds interesting, i'll watch it.
if the movie is below 6,5 and sounds very interesting, i'll watch it anyway if i got the time :D
I do the exact same thing :)

IMDB top 250 is pretty good, dont let old flicks scare you!
check out every major film festival, wait for the 720p release, watch it (and dump 99% of the hollywood films)
or
wiki <random movie genre>, fly over the article, find the most-important-for-that-genre-movies, download if >720p
idd go to imdb --> search bar --> top 250

for me how it was before: if its above 8.5 then its worth watching it

but now after that ive seen that some movies that have a 7 or a 6 are actually worthy of an 8-9-10 i just check if the story is interesting to me or not. but this still doesnt take away the fact that movies that have an 8 actually DO deserve that rating or even a higher.

so what i look for now is: check if the story is interresting (if its below 8), and when its above 8 i just know it'll be a good movie doesnt matter what story it has, so i just watch that
1. imdb top 250
2. categorize 1990 - 201*
3. watch for rating 7 or higher and check storyline
4. ???
5. profit
ull miss out on a alot of fun movies likes that

I mostly stick to directors that I like or directors about whom I have read (their vision, goals in filmmaking, technics), and sometimes some actors/actresses, some cinematographers and the score can attract me to a movie.

If you don't take that in consideration (which I rarely do), on imdb, if the rating is 7.7 or above then it has a good chance to be an objectively good movie. But some movies under that mark are genius, but not all. (you can also check the votes to see what each portion of the population voted). And awards from major festivals will also affect the rating, depending what makes you like a movie (writing awards, cinematography awards, etc..).

but this does not apply specifically to the question "what movie to download?", but to "what movie to watch?"

My top 50: http://www.imdb.com/list/qmkQ96WThGg/
fake list is fake, TGTBTU shouldnt be nr 15, crazy? its nr 1 ATLEAST

I have watched 3.5-5 imdb rating movies , i have found alot of them good.So i just watch movies , usually i check after movie which rating it has and im usually dissapointed if good movie (imo) have shit rating.
rottentomatoes > *
imdb 7+ & just my personal taste when viewing trailers.
imdb, what else do you need?
directors, certain actors, plot/genre,
First I check the plot on Wiki, on which I can also look at the Critical Reception. If it says that on Rotten Tomatoes it holds a 75%+ rating, I'm going to watch it. If it's a bit lower, I go and check on Rotten Tomatoes what the critics say. and that's about it.
imdb pretty much.

I dont normally use anything to make myself watch a movie, generally I just use them to not watch a movie. Certain actors, directors, ratings etc.
no im going to cinema to watch movies
imdb

if its above or close to 7.5 ill give it a try, if not, its probably some hollywood bullshit anyway
