displayrefresh

so here is the deal, my monitor can only support 85 herz on r_mode 6
so, me & my friend are having a discussion about this

if i put r_displayrefresh 100 in my config , what happens :

i think ==> et will play on 60 herz because 60 is standard and et gets forced to the standard because my monitor doesn't support 100 on r_mode 6 ( so my screen is a bit slower then it is on 85 herz( so it lags a bit compared to 85 )

my friends thinks ==> et will just play on 85 herz , np

I'm first ooooooooh, this MUST be my luckyday!!

i think it's gonna get changed to 60
I think your monitor will go "black" and report that the refresh rate is not supported.
that's only with r_modes isn't it ?

no, he's right

you installed drivers for your monitor? if ya lucky it will support 100
Learn to use the console without having display, or you will have to reset your comp when your screen gets black. ET will not return to old settings when you go to high.
minimizing et helps too

didnt help me since windows adapts to ET when you run it. So when we have windows reso 1024*768, but in ET 800*600, windows will show 800*600 when we minimize. Same counts for displayrefresh. When you have 120 hz in ET, but 85 hz when you are not running ET, you will have 120 when you minimize ET.

dunno? I have to do alt + Z for minimizer. After that alt + enter?
Parent
just press alt + enter ingame

try out different values in windows, not in ET. Take resolution and try displayrefreshrates. If you go to high, windows will restore old settings after 20 secs or smth. (display returns)
We can still play ET but we're only wondering what displayrefresh gets used when you enter a displayrefresh that your monitor does not support because you notice some lag: the standard 60, or the highest avi 85 :R
The standard displayrefresh in ET is:

r_displayrefresh "0"

"0" means it will adapt to your windows setting in this case.

You should be easily see the difference between 60 and 85 :P Turn your head 90 degrees to the left or the right and watch at your screen. You should easily see the flickering @ 60hz (even at 85hz imho ;)
will play @ 60Hz
