ps/2 settings

Greetings. my mouse have been acting weird for some time now
after much help from overdrive last night ive been told that my usb thingy is borked and that i will haveto use ps/2 till i replace my usb thingy
so i am currently using ps/2 HOWEVER, when i move my mouse fast it freezes/slows down, which makes fast aiming nearly impossible, and since im somewhat of a highsenser it rly interfere with my gameplay.
ive got an mx518 @ 400DPI 200 hz (the program i used couldnt force higher hz than 200 ;X)
ideas?
