Venus will come across the sun, you are not suppose to look at it with your eyes or you go blind..
kinda interesting :P

i'm not sure if its right to watch it with even a telescope? isnt there special glasses or smthing?
![](/_cache/media/users/39902_flower2_43x43.jpg)
sure it is. you can for example have a solar filter which blocks out like 99.999% of incoming light or like me, you could remove the eyepiece and just project it into a white surface (if i had my eyepiece in the focus, the glass of the lens would most probably melt. not as fancy but im poor (:XD), but the dot should still be visible. it might even be visible through a welders' mask

You would need a filter yes. It should be high quality aswell because if it melts you will go blind as you have 100x the usual amount of sunlight directed right at your eye.

a filter cant really melt as it is attached to the telescope before then main lens/mirror (you really really shouldnt use one thats attached to the focus/eyepiece, thats just asking for trouble :D)

Ye unfortuately those "sun oculars" are quite widespread..

Why would it be more dangerous to look at the sun now than in normal time?
![](/images/px.gif)
You can get blind said by NASA.. idk give it a try o.o during the eclipse

1 am here, won't see a lot :P

You need to wait the sunrise.
![](/_cache/media/users/35929_rashomon cf_43x43.jpg)
no shit :D
![](/_cache/media/users/39902_flower2_43x43.jpg)
its actually healthier, since venus (which is like ten billion times dimmer) blocks out a bit of the light :D
![](/_cache/media/users/21201_clash-cortex-cyprien_43x43.jpg)
A small part of the sunlight is blocked but its still harmful for your eyes indeed.

still healthier than 24/7 gayming on a 60hz crt

![](/images/px.gif)
"The last transit of Venus was on 5 and 6 June 2012, and was the last Venus transit of the 21st century; the prior transit took place on 8 June 2004. The previous pair of transits were in December 1874 and December 1882. The next transits of Venus will be December 10-11, 2117, and in December 2125"
