go to bindings,
bind Q - recording start
bind W - recording stop

It saves them where you tell it to save them when you click the Save button in the recording window.

They are saved as .vrf though, you need a program to record directly from your soundcard and preferbly two soundcards if you want to make them into wav/mp3.
